Simpson, Jeff
Background:
Jeff Simpson grew up amongst the hustle of the middle-class on Planet Manhattan, watching them all trying to strike it rich via one enterprise or another. His early years were spent learning to market his simple courier and labor services - taking odd jobs as opportunities revealed themselves. As his name in the neighborhood became recognized, he started to notice he could demand more credits upfront, or, at the very least, negotiate for better terms if his credit demand was too high. Seeing the stark difference between this form of payment over the situation of his friends, all working for corporations that tied their compensation to yearly salaries - he began to work in earnest to expand his knowledge of what it took to become a successful entrepreneur in the greater Sirius sector once his studies were completed.
Years later, and many, many contracts fulfilled, Jeff applied his knowledge towards a greater aspiration - a larger organization that would be a significant player in the trade community. His goal was to achieve the ability to complete larger contracts, as well as have ports with offerings in trade to simulate local economies where he determined the market would be hungry for growth and new activity. All Worlds Enterprises was born, and, true to his economical Freelancer upbringing, the original base was in Shikoku near Deshima Station, taking full advantage of Kusari's then 'Economic Development' program allowing foreign new companies to setup shop without upfront construction or registration fees.
Aside from some early on confrontation with aggressive local factions in the system, All Worlds Enterprises went on to form a fleet of significant size and even grew to allow more expansion - taking over bases where management was moving onward to different regions or their contracts had dried up. Over time, he began taking more of an administration role over coordinating efforts across all of these installations, all the while keeping an eye on the cargo contracts that got him into this position in the first place.
The many bases in different regions had another effect on his development - Platinum in Shikoku via the nearby comet was especially booming during the initial years. While mostly assisting mining operations via transport, there were some times where a miner was required on short notice, and Jeff jumped into the role, putting his extraction skills were put to the test - eventually improving modestly! This same general increase in skill level applied at other bases during his visits, to the point where he made sure he joined up with at least one op per admin visit to keep in practice and get tips from the experts on-site. Before long, he'd been active in collection of Platinum, Toxic Waste, Scrap Metals, Aluminium, Niobium, Military Salvage, Gold, and even Iridium.
At some point there was discussion about the next level amongst the organization, earning more profits, taking a bigger piece of the pie than had already been secured. They opened the door to talks with Interspace Commerce, with whom they'd gradually got to know via bases like the Renzu shipyard in Shikoku, and their active station Roppongi, near Planet New Tokyo. Talks went well - IC seemed keen on having more ships dedicated to supporting their stations throughout the sector in many houses, and thus the decision was made for the Freelancer startup to become a house aligned Corporate entity.
AWES (All Worlds Enterpises & Securities) was born, and for a time, Jeff served in an advisory role as new corporate management was tasked to whip the entity into it's finest form. New ships were issued, new bases commissioned, and larger scale talks with faction leadership and house governments shaped the corporation into a well respected contact on which timely shipments or adequate supply could be counted on.
However, Jeff never forgot his Freelancer roots. His advisory role was one of his choosing, knowing he'd need his independence returned at some point to continue his path without corporate oversight. Glad to be moving on while the entity he'd help create was finely-turned, he turned back to working contracts - himself, the ship, trade lanes, and open space.
He began working with Nebula Shipping Express, a contact formed during his previous AWE years, as well as many other stations, taking on some of their contracts when he was in system. During the last few years, he's been helping generate more business where possible for the system's trade as well as managing many short term contracts to keep him moving across the sector.
Given his status as frequenting Pennsylvania, and in keeping up in practice with recent mining methods, Jeff is well versed in advanced methods of Heavy Water extraction. He's also used some of his past profits from his sold stake of AWE to secure newer specialized vessels with which to mine this valuable resource efficiently. Something of a collector, Jeff has been rumored to have ships docked at various ports across many houses, all waiting for that day he settles (if he settles?) on a new location long enough to call 'home'.
