Operation log - Hunters of the void - Omicron`s Safari, Sigma squadron

It all started in the smoky backrooms of Manhattan, where the remnants of unknown squadron gathered like ghosts of a war we thought we’d won. The Inverness debacle had left us scarred — too many good agents lost to the cold, unfeeling hands of the Auxo. They called it "Objectives were met", but for us, it was a wound that refused to heal. Revenge wasn’t just a desire; it was a duty.

When the call came in from Core, it wasn’t just another contract. It was an opportunity. Interspace Commerce, the lifeblood of Liberty’s economy, wasn`t losing time with its toy. Now, they wanted us, the ones who knew how to fight in the shadows — to join Core’s crusade in the Omicrons. The pay was good, but the real prize was the chance to hit back at Auxo, to make them bleed for what they’d done in Liberty.

They called it a safari. A hunt. And we? We were the hunters.

The Omicron Kappa system was a graveyard of forgotten wars and was, indeed different from in-house space, a place where the rules of civilization just didn’t apply. Those freaks had been digging their claws into the region by rogue AIs, and Core needed boots on the ground—or rather, pilots in the void. We signed the contract, not just for Liberty, not just for money, but for ourselves. For the ones we’d lost.

This is the story of how we went into the wilds of the Omicrons, not as agents of Liberty, but as mercenaries with a score to settle. The rogue AIs, the Technocracy, Hispanic pirates, the endless void — they all thought they were untouchable. But they hadn’t counted on us.

This is our safari. And we’re not coming back empty-handed.

Brother in arms,

The mission involved the acquisition and refitting of "Sturgeon" gunships, followed by a targeted strike against hostile forces, cheers to "Merkavah" who retrieved some Liberty and Bounty Hunters guns for our ships, they did blast. Op` was initiated as part of a joint effort between Zoners (Phoenix) and Core to secure planet Gammu in the Omicron Kappa system, main target - destroy rogue AI Battleship Mars, anchor of the AI/Technocracy fleet. Notably, Corsair forces were observed providing support to Auxesia and the rogue AIs, complicating the engagement. While their involvement was kind`of unexpected that much, their forces were ultimately repelled with minimal impact on mission objectives. Adis-Abeba and Bissau battlecruisers leaded the assault on second solar, unfortunetly, we lost the first one, while other one went alive in a miracle, I was right next to it, finishing last naughty fly. WV-Vrihedd successfully neutralized 22 high-value targets, significantly degrading enemy capabilities. Looking forward to hear how many punks you lighted up, lads.

Sweet. That’s the only word for it. Watching those bots and mongrels explode one by one, knowing that technocracy freaks were the same bastards who cut through us in Inverness — it was like a balm on an old wound. Every shot from the "Sturgeon’s" cannons felt like payback. I could almost hear their comms going silent, the same way ours did back then. Revenge isn’t just a dish best served cold; it’s best served with a helping of ballistic fury. Double forward guns? Gimme four, they are perfect for punching through armor. They never saw it coming. The "Sturgeon" gunship performed exceptionally in extreme circumstances. I believe we should continue its utilization for high`mpact strike missions in any region.

To the ones we lost in Inverness and other ops — this was for you. Every shot, every kill, every moment out there in the black. Though I can`t say it’s enough.

This channel is now encrypted for our logs, boys, just so I don't lose count.

Hey hoo lads,

Just wrapping up another day in the void, and let me tell you, this one was a blast—literally. Omicron Kappa’s a real mess, but hey, that’s what we’re here for, right? Clean up the trash, take out the bad guys, and look good doing it. Sturgeons, those spacefish? Gotta say, I love these things. More guns? Yes, please. They handed us the keys, we slapped on some extra armor and shiny new targeting systems at Livadiya Shipyard, and then it was off to the races. Or, you know, off to the safari. It was like a shooting gallery out there. Auxo fighters, rogue AI cruisers, and — get this — Corsairs decided to crash the party. Guess they didn’t get the memo that this was a private event. I’ll cut to the chase: I bagged 38 kills. Yeah, you heard that right. Thirty-eight. Vrihedd’s over there bragging about his 22, but hey, someone’s gotta carry the team, right? (Just kidding, Vrihedd. Mostly.)

We wrapped things up and headed back. My WV-Merkavah took a few hits, but nothing a little duct tape and elbow grease can’t fix. Vrihedd’s ship looked a bit worse for wear, but hey, that’s what happens when you’re playing catch-up. All in all, it was a good day. We hit Auxo hard, sent the rogue AIs packing, and even gave the Corsairs a lesson in manners. And, of course, I got bragging rights for the next few weeks.

Alright, listen up, kids.

Your old vet Adir is here, checking in after another day of babysitting gunships and teaching machines how to blow stuff up. While you two were out there playing heroes, I was stuck at Livadiya, turning one of Core’s AI bombers into a proper killing machine. Yeah, you heard me — a bomber. None of that fancy fighter nonsense. This thing’s built to level the playing field, and I’m the one making sure it doesn’t level our asses in the process. I didn’t get to join the safari this time — someone had to stay behind and make sure the big guns actually worked. But the real project? That AI bomber.

You ever try to teach a bomber AI how to calculate trajectories, prioritize targets, and not blow itself up in the process? It’s like teaching a womp rat to play chess. But hey, I got it to a point where it could handle itself in a scrap. Not bad for a day’s work. I managed to get the bomber’s targeting systems online for a long enough time and its payload delivery optimized. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s close. Give it a few more tweaks, and we might just have something Liberty could use. Imagine that — an AI bomber, flying for us. It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds.

During the battle for Kappa this AI piece of scrap metal suddenly changed its directive and started chasing a certain “Granny”, it's not quite clear who it is and why the AI decided to chase that one Auxo vessel, i've probably messed with its programming to much. In any case, i consider the testing of new AI bombers successful.

This whole operation? It’s just the beginning. Bad guys getting their new toys, and so do we. But if we play our cards right, we might just come out on top. And who knows? Maybe next time, I’ll join you two in the field. Either way, the future’s looking bright.

Signing off, Adir (aka “The Guy Who Actually Knows What He’s Doing”)
