After 800 years of existence, the Sirius sector has experienced the War of the Colonies. Thousands and tens of thousands of innocent souls died under mysterious circumstances involving a terrorist organization called the Order, whose motives remain a mystery to this day. In fact, the Order stopped an entire genocide at the hands of an alien race, ensuring a long and peaceful future for the human race, where humanity would once again shine among the stars and subjugate the technology of the mysterious Daam'Kvosh civilization.
That's what happened in another history.
In our story, humans did not get to the mysterious artifact. The Nomads were still asleep, somewhere deep in the Dyson Sphere, on the far edge of the Sirius Sector, peacefully awaiting their hour of awakening.
In our history, humanity has destroyed itself.
When the 80-year war devolved from the expansion of the Rheinland Empire into a full-scale conflict between all four Houses for resources and spheres of influence, the war became total. The exact records and testimonies of who exactly pushed the “red button” first have long since been lost. The 80-year war became the “Last War”, in which humans used weapons that would have been insane even for the Dom'Kavash. By driving millions insane with just one word and burning out other millions with truly nightmarish devices, the “powers that be” were able to put a cross on the future of humans. The stories of those times have long since turned into myths and legends, and the entire Sector is now nothing more than a vast battlefield long since subsided.
And across this field are the survivors. Those who were lucky enough to see the outbreaks of the "Last War" from afar and gather the remnants of humanity around them. Warbands, seekers, scavengers, technology fanatics and simple adventurers - everyone is trying to cling to their piece of cruel space and continue the history of mankind under their banner. And you are one of them.
Your ship is a wretch, something that once belonged to some pirates on the territory of a nation that no longer exists. At least that's what they say. But it's up to you to find out the truth. Or, will you want to go the other way and rewrite history to your liking? Sirius has always been a universe of possibilities. And even in the New World, those opportunities haven't gone away. It's just the setting that's changed.
Welcome to the year 800. To a new century. And it will be up to you to see humanity through this new chapter in history.
