Oh hell. Feels weird saying that to an audio recorder. Feels weird saying that to an empty room. I’d do pen and paper, but frankly storing it in this closet of a room wouldn’t be the best thing for fire hazards. Or for finding things afterwards. In any case, though, might as well not just…ramble like that. Like I said, feels weird. I should just type things out but my keyboard connector is broken. How…I’m really quite unsure.

We got underway from Pacifica earlier today with an expected transit through Rheinland and the Sigmas up into Galileo, by Copernicus. Every Xeno knows the Raleigh, so I figure the navigational data for that system should be good. Rheinland wasn’t all that bad last time, and honestly I expect that we can just slide on through that. Sigmas will likely be the same, especially since I know a little shortcut that’ll cut transit time there down.

Crew’s pretty apprehensive. It’s been a while to get this ship into shape and that assumes we’ll even be in shape by the time we get into Galileo. Should we hit any major red lines, though, they know that we may just have to pull into Leiden or, failing that, Helgoland on some sort of provisionary basis. At least they’re all volunteers though, so there’s less of an issue than usual on these sorts of things. Personally, I’m pretty excited for it.

We’re approaching Rheinland space now, though. I’ll need to be on the bridge for all this.

Captain Booth, signing off.

It’s been a strange time. Kusari and Liberty have gotten up in arms, probably because of some Samura push, and then they started shooting for it too. The initial patrol that day was initially strange - a number of fighters were encounters flashing Order IFF (1), which all told were highly suspicious but appeared at the time to be generally reasonable all things considered. I haven’t seen that sort outside of the Omicrons before and their presence in such an interior system wasn’t all that good a sign.

Later on in the day, we encountered a small Liberty Navy task force in vicinity of Galileo-Colorado Jump Gate. Hailing them (2), the vessels refused to state their general business in system. Traffic was flowing freely through the gate, however, with several vessels getting in close proximity to the task force; as such, I assessed that the vessels were in system as a deterrence to Kusari forces. They did not appear to be at a high state of alert.

Following this, a Kusari force was detected moving through the central trade lane, halting approximately 15K from the Gate (3). Liberty Navy forces had grown to around 4 battleships, battlecruisers, and everything down the line while the Kusari force seemed to consist of destroyers and less with only one exception being a battlecruiser. We kept on station around 10K from the Kusari force, with hands to Battle Stations should they engage. Arcetri Station was likewise put on alert. After some posturing - stars, I honestly haven’t seen much like it before - the Kusari forces attacked. I kept on station still, waiting some time before something about it all seemed kind of off. What sort of absolute fools would make that engagement? It seemed like some sort of diversion.

I altered course into the Reppu cloud, moving around the battle on course for the Colorado Jump Hole. Reaching that location (4), I found one KNF liner, the Tsukushi-Maru, one KNF fighter, and the same Order patrol from previously. The Endeavor monitored the situation, as I assessed that the liner may attempt to break for Colorado, and followed the group north of the whole system. From the communications, it seems like the internal structure of Kusari is more fragmented than any really thought - some faction or another wants war, some wants peace, and both think the other is a traitor. God, I hate Kusari. Of course the Order threatened things after. Standard Order business.

En-route back to Arcetri Station, we picked up some communications traffic from the Liberty Navy vessels still in the area (5). It seems like the KNF task force had been utterly blasted, with only one remaining in the area that was explaining things to a Liberty officer over open comms. We logged it, but really it seemed like a whole appeal to “Let us deal with things ourselves” deal and some of the LSF acting like absolute hounds, wanting to blast the single LSF. And really, all said, that was the end of the patrol. Everyone figured we were in for some really stupid times. What a show.

Now there are embargos in place. Granted, I’m not too worried about either as far as travel since it was through Copernicus that we came, but the increased military presence in system has proven more difficult, all told. I figure there’ll be more shooting soon, between the two. Hogosha will probably try to vulture in again, use the KNF as a shield or threat, and that won’t be any good. DSE has thus far not been a problem, but if Liberty Navy gets a foothold I can almost guarantee a DSE depot will pop up before we blink. The crew’s been tense since then. I need to ship in some booze or something to do a rum tot, maybe. Something to get their minds off of things.

Captain Booth, signing off.
