Representatives of the Crayter Republic.

House Kusari seeks for your immediate attention on a pressing matter. We are aware that our relationship with your Republic suffered from several volatile episodes over the past years, however our joint cooperation together with the Kingdom of Bretonia hopefully showed us that our mutually shared goals are stronger than old thrives.

As you are surely aware of, the Empire of Kusari and the Republic of Liberty are entangled in ongoing legal disputes over exploitation rights for Platinum reserves found within the Galileo system.

These unresolved issues, alongside various long-term factors, led to a massive spike of tensions between us and House Liberty. Due to repeated breach of protocol by vessels belonging to the Liberty Navy, reaching up to the direct violation of trespassing into our sovereign territory with patrol wings and two officially confirmed skirmishes resulting due to Libertorian provocations, our nations are at the brink of open conflict.

Whereas we do not plan to close diplomatic channels with the Republic in favor of direct confrontation, we do not expect the Republic to align with our stance on the matter and instead resort to direct military force. An escalatory spiral appears imminent and we know that the Crayter Republic perceives a major business and strategic partner in the Republic. What we also see is the possibility of House Liberty lashing out towards uninvolved third parties as part of their escalatory steps, including trying to pursuade other actors to either cut ties with us or directly assist their expansionistic ambitions.

The Crayterians aid in the Tau Highway is of undeniable key relevance for House Bretonia and House Kusari and the free trade through that sector. All we wish for is the Crayter Republic to be prepared about Liberty's potential pressure to warp our mutual security interests in the Tau sector, into their desire to utilize you as a tool for causing harm to the region. We are convinced that the Crayterian people would never commit to such endeavors, but we wish to warn you that by all we know, it is to be expected that the Libertorians will attempt to illegitimately get you involved.

With utmost respect,
Imperial Foreign Affairs Minister,
Toshinori Kojirou

Foreign Minister Toshinori Kojirou,

You have brought dreadful news to me minister. From the facts you insinuate, your war has already begun with House Liberty. Citing someone, who may very well be either side in the end, may try to drag the coals of war to the Crayter Republic once more. I can not condone this, as I foresee the entire collapse of the more civilized spheres of Sirius should it come to that. You force us to take drastic preventative measures against our own interests just for the safety and security of our own people. Neither of the House Navies of Liberty and Kusari may cross Baffin and the Barrier Pass, and will be forced back to their respective borders if duty demands it.

Once the Gallic Union hears of what is happening, what will they do? House Bretonia is distracted with their slow ongoing front into the Dublin gold fields and would be just as sluggish to react should Gallia make a move into the Taus. You risk the safety of the Harris Alliance in more ways than you incur. Not just against your own prospects, but the stability of the entire sector of space.

Why weren't these rising concerns expressed when we met at the Summit in Bretonia? Or did those sub-par prawns we had for dinner make me black out the memory? What going on over in Galileo?

In service to the Republic.

Lily Ward
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Crayter Republic

Miss Ward.

It is pleasant to hear from you, regardless of the unfortunate situation we are currently diving into.
Be assured that we are gathering up for strategic meetings to avoid this worst case of full blown escalation. It is not in the interest of the Empire to set the sector ablaze, but this might just be what happens should either side lose control over the situation. It is but a big enough spark it takes at this point.
Upholding our obligations as part of the Harris Alliance and keeping the Gallic Union in check remain a high priority.

These tensions were not discussed at the Summit for but one reason: Tensions were there but entirely fixated on the legal court battle with no unjustifiable acts by either side occurring just yet. The Liberty Navy sent heavy warship detachments up to the direct border and had snubcraft wings breach into Shikoku. These incidents were met by hardliners on our side and skirmishes took place. Some call for retaliatory actions within the Galileo system already, a show of "strength" which can easily lead to another incident.

I will be transparent with you, Miss Ward. My message is a warning out of good faith, one which I have taken initiative on by myself. I am actively coordinating with other elements opposing needless scales of escalation already but matters of domestic politics have never been easy in Kusari. I have high hopes we can prevent either side from going too far but as I cannot guarantee anything, I felt a personal need to inform our partners, such as you or the Kingdom of Bretonia, about the potential imminent escalations and their possible and gravest side effects.

With utmost respect,
Imperial Foreign Affairs Minister,
Toshinori Kojirou
