Captain Michael Bartlett speaking as the newly elected captain of the rechristened Battleship Invictus. I'm opening this channel to give a status update on the vessel's maintenance and to keep track of further updates. Your experienced engineering team onboard El Alto has been familiarizing with the vessel over the last days and they have a damage assessment ready to begin repairing and replacing all faulty components from the vessel, as our own limited team predicted most of the vessel's essential systems and the mechanical side on the power plants is green, the issue is the electronic side which was sabotaged prior to my position as provisional captain, which means a drydock won't be required to disassemble parts of the hulk to get the vessel combat ready. This is a summary of the three major systems that require repairs:
The engineering team and our few repair specialist will rely on the onboard sensors network to keep track of stuff being reported as damaged or with unknown status and go patching their way through. with the current team this should take between two and three weeks in the worst case scenario -hyperspace drives aside-, after which the vessel can be deemed combat ready. After these major repairs are serviced we'll begin scheduling plans on a second stage to retrofit our hangar bays to be more flexible in servicing any kinds of snubcraft vessels from the Zoner irregulars and other allies in Pennsylvania, as currently they're only optimized to handle the Prosecutor-class. We'll await your input for the time being. Cpt. Michael Bartlett, Battleship Invictus. [TGT: ID:INV-Cpt.Bartlett] Bartlett,
This is going out far later than it has any right to, and frankly that's on me. Assuming you're even in command still, given these 'elections' of yours, I've looked over the reports both you and my guys posted to the server. Admittedly, this was ported to my 'to-do' folder, which constantly gets backed up with other stuff, so, again, that's on me. To those reports, though, I do have some insights, so I'll go easiest to more headache inducing: LRS and EW - Scanners tend to be the first to go when drydock is unavailable for considerable periods, though not always. A good deal of time having engineers looking over these, maybe a week or two, usually fixes the main issues. You've probably already had this issue handled by the time I'm sending this reply. If so, cool. If not, points above, not a hard issue to resolve. ExHSM and Jump Drive - I'm making a minor assumption here and going with this translation of 'wormhole generator'. There were modules in the past that weren't rechargeable that did the same thing for a longer period of time, but those have since gone the way of the Benara Parikeel. You might've heard of them - the modules, not the Parikeel.. or maybe you have. I don't know. Regardless, I'm a big proponent of ripping the band-aid off here. HSMs haven't had a major use since the blackout, and the nerds are still out on when that hulk of OS updates is gonna drop. Considering your HSMs are experimental, that's likely going to be even more space taken up that frankly could be put to better use. Ammo storage, crew quarters, additional hangar space for your secondary upgrade aims; The world really is your heclam here. Jump Drive, I'd look at keeping. If your ExHSMs are threaded into your generator, which was often done in the name of 'efficiency' (it's bullshit, really), it may be more of a headache to separate them, but, again, big proponent of ripping the band-aid off. That kind of migraine stops once you handle the problem spot. Not sure what gen' your drive is, so that may factor in; Only one way to know, really. That said, these drives are stupidly useful these days, especially considering the shit we handle on a daily basis. CPD - Boy, this is one problem I just can't escape, can I? Perks are you know what the problem is; Cons are that's about where the perks end. Sabotage is an infinitely more annoying bird to quack than standard disrepair. Damage of that scale usually goes deeper than you'd think, which brings about its own set of problems beyond the hardware. Leeching into other systems, potential off-balance once you actually get it running again, among others. Worth a thorough workout; Power is frankly the one thing you should never skimp on. Keeps the lights on, yeah? Hopefully these help, even if time between then and now made some points redundant. Libera te ex Infernis. West, out. message.playback.concluded.. disconnecting.. I am personally very relieved to hear from you after these many months of radio silence and I do hope the Task Force is doing well. We've been stationed near Inverness for the last couple months as our limited crew has been keeping tabs and finished running diagnostics onboard, we've decided to keep El Alto clear and both them as little as possible since your own team of specialists have reported being as busy as ever. Now that we're fully aware of what's broken we've organized and scheduled a project to bring the vessel back to combat readiness, all that's left is to bring in the needed materials and our team will do everything necessary to bring her back to the field. Regarding the hyperspace hardware however, it's been decided that due to being purpose-built and its prototype nature and complexity that we should carefully dismantle and dispose of it, and replace it with a newer state-of-the-art counterpart. I suspect that the locals from the Technocracy will be interested in getting their hands on it to re-use this hardware for their own purpose, since it serves none to us right now. During all this time and while we were figuring out what's broken we've also did our best efforts to rework and re-organize hangar bays more suited to service a broader range of vessels rather than the standard-issue Prosecutor-class from back when this vessel serviced under command of the Insurgency, this was another of my secondary concerns to address before the vessel begins to operate on Pennsylvania. This will also speed logistics now that we have a shopping list of materials to bring to begin repairs. And speaking of that, I would like to know if you're acquainted with certain someone that could help us out in procuring some of these materials. Do you know some law-abiding civilians sympathizing with our cause that have a freighter? Cpt. Michael Bartlett, Battleship Invictus. [TGT: ID:INV-Cpt.Bartlett] Bartlett,
Good to hear. Given where we've found ourselves, maximum flexibility is gonna be a lifesaver for ops against the Republic. Rev and her gang might have an interest in that old experimental hardware, though I'd mull it over with them first before you show up and drop it on their doorstep. Odds are though that the fancy gear you've got combined with that big data drop the Hack Pack leaked a while ago might be something they could make work in your favor. Give 'em a call, could be something there. As for procurement, those on the outside willing to work with us are a lot fewer and far between than I'm comfortable with, but there was one freighter captain Crowe was working with pretty recently that I'm sure they'd vouch for: Heinrike. Been working with the Pinnacle gang for a while now, and seems to have a good grasp of the less-than-lawful side of the sector, at least from what little I've seen. Good head on their shoulders, too. Good luck out there. Libera te ex Infernis. West, out. message.playback.concluded.. disconnecting.. |
