Can no longer run DiscoveryGC on Windows XP after update - Hoss - 08-30-2025
After the latest patch I am now unable to launch Freelancer.exe from the launcher. The launcher throws the following error message:
The procedure entry point _except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll
Up until now I have been running DiscoveryGC Freelancer on a dedicated Windows XP machine. This is the 32 bit version Service Pack 3.
If anyone has a solution it would be much appreciated!

Windows XP is woefully out of date and is not able to run the latest vc runtimes. It is not a supported operating system.
I know this kind of thing has been said before, but using Windows XP in the modern day is extremely dangerous, and just being connected to the internet makes you vulnerable.

i use the win7, and also found similiar problem. you have to search and download that file, but not a recent version, but the version of the same time of the winxp. so search that library files for winxp, it worked for for the win7. it took me some time and several attempts but all work fine now. the ony thing i can't do is to see all ships that are for sale if there are more than 3.good luck
