Freelancer Mining - Loxwood - 08-31-2025

Hi there.

Coming into the server I decided to focus on making money via mining. So I came onto the forums and followed the mining guide. So far I have spent a bit of time mining heavy water in Pennsylvania but decided id go try mining something else. I went to Galileo to Mine Platinum, and discovered the pain that is inflicted from not having an ID with a bonus for that commodity.

I understand that the idea is certain groups will have the monopoly over certain areas and ores, but I want to remain a freelance Miner. The current system seems to punish this idea of being a Freelancer and forces you to select a faction ID if you want any chance of having a good yield. I know that you "can" mine without the bonus' but the rate of ore drop without the bonus makes the experience painful.
Would it be possible or at least considered to add some more areas a Freelancer can mine with a bonus on the ID. Not asking to have the same or to even have lots of areas, but restricting the ID to mine in One set system with no available option's of expansion beyond using a faction ID sour's the experience. Especially if your a new player joining for the first time who may not want to deal with the faction relationships that are inherited with using one of those ID's.

In my humble opinion it would make sense that the Freelancer ID have bonus' for areas that are more common and easy to reach, again especially in the area new players are starting. The 3.0 bonus for Heavy water makes sense but maybe add a 1 or 2 bonus for Galileo as that is a Vanilla System.

This is just based on my initial mining experience and it has put me off wanting to carry on mining as I have no choice but to use a group ID if I want to mine anything else. I may be missing something, it might be that the lack of bonus isn't as bad as it seems, but so far for me, that has been the case.

There was a time when Freelancer had a objectively worse mining bonus on basically every ore compared to the more specialized factions.

Not sure why this was dropped. I assume something to do with economic balance or something

A bit like Junkers right now, bottom of the food chain.

I would like to clarify, there are some non-or-based materials that anyone can mine, especially junkers and freelancers.
These include but are not limited to (off the top of my head. Not at my PC at the moment)
Water
Oxygen
Iron
Titanium
I think uranium? (Need clarification)
Scrap metal
Toxic waste.

Just a few that I can think of over the top of my head. I'm sure there's others that I'm totally forgetting. I know the last update added quite a few to a few systems floating around.

Vulkhard Muller you can also add alien organisms,

about the original post, you can mine everything with freelancer id, even with no or low bonus, but factions that have bonus on certain ores, can't mine everything, that is the advantage of the freelancer id.

To be honest. My smooth brain hadn't even registered that the list of ores in the guide were not the only ores available. In fact if I had paid more attention just underneath that List is an "addition" about Ore routes and to make use of the dark stat thing to find them. So that's on me for not seeing the forest for the trees.

I also didn't realise that the ID's also limited what group could mine things. So that's good to know that the Freelancer ID does in fact give me more options for mining.

It can definitely be a pain, especially Nu-Mining™ but it's the cost you pay. Personally, I just "mine" NPCs and sell the MilSal/Hfuel
