So here's a short description of what happened. Last day I was trading at Omega 49 when some guy halted me. As any trader would do I halted and told him a warm and friendly "What?". So he told me to give him 1mil credits, "what a surprise" I thought" and after a short discussion abou why should I pay him if I already paid a rogue and whatever I decided to pay before my ship was blown, and as soon as I began cruising away "what the @!$#!!?" The guy was a gaian terrorist, and I was just pirated. So I began talking to him a about his recent actions and this conversation came out.
Me: So why are you out of your ZOI
-no answer.
Me: you know you are outside of your ZOI right
-no answer.
Me: so you are not answering
-no answer.
Me: i could fill a sanction report but i dont wan to ruin no ones's fun
me: so better explain why you pirated me
Him/her/it: I can pirate whoever I want as long as they are not ally.
Him/her/it: my faction is a terrorist one
me: not if you are putside you ZOI
Him/her/it: my ID doesnt say anything about ZOI
me: neither does any of the other IDs but you see a Xeno in rheinland?
No more screenshots were taken so I don have specific conversation beyond that point but by what i remeber is, that the guy then complained about not understanding his ID and that it was confusing And me telling him that I was going to ask in the forums, adn not fill a sanction report yet.
------>So my questions are:
1) Was he allowed to pirate me in Omega 49? take into account that Corsairs are the criminals in the system and gaians are their allies.
2) If he is a terrorist, is he allowed to ask for money?
3) How stupid I was for being distracted and not paying atention to his/her/its tag:$
4) Could someone make a thread that explains this kind of situations to avoid future issues similar to this one (If you already have excuse me for my ignorance).
So as mentioned above I have screenshots but, I wont post them unless necessary.
So if this could be clarified ASAP I would be very thankful.
P.S: now that I think about it, I wont make a report for 1mil bucks, and srry for the looong thread

1. I suppose it depends why he was there to start. It's not exactly out there as far as Gaian interests are concerned.
2. Despite the name, their ID is that of a pirate.

2- A Gaian 'Terrorist' is just one label for them, as the vanilla Gaians are in fact, a pirate group
3- It's not a matter of 'stupid' in the least...when playing the game, there is admittedly alot of information to absorb & create habits with, but the more you play, the easier playing becomes
4- I would recommend using the 'search' feature before I would recommend someone posting an issue that may have already been touched on in the past...later when I have the time, I will look around, but if someone beats me to the punch, I wouldn't mind.

#1 ... you were completely OOC by telling him he was outside his ZOI ... there was no RP on your part from what you mentioned above
#2 ... if he's a pirate he can demand money from you ... pretty sure terrorists can demand cash as well ... but terrorists don't have to
#3 ... Omega 49 is not owned by anyone ... the only reason for the Rheinland battleship there is to keep the rif raf from entering Dresden ... other than that Rheinland has no stake in Omega 49 ... the only other 2 faction bases in Omega 49 are the Bounty Hunters and Junkers ... SOOO ... if you wanna call anyone out of their ZOI ... I suppose if they're not Rheinlanders, Junkers or Bounty Hunters they'd be out of their ZOI ... is this your logic?

There's no Rheinland battleship in 49, and it doesn't border Dresden:P
However, I do believe there has been a case where a Gaian in Omega 5 was warned for ZoI violation...admittedly, he was acting like a Corsair (from what I read), but pirating in the Omegas is kinda pushing it...

Gaians care about advancing their goals to prevent the terraforming of planets.
Traveling through Dublin to pirate in a Zoner system doesn't really advance said goals.
If they were mining silver to ship to Planetform, perhaps it would be a judicious maneuver.
But preventing the sale of a resource on a nearby planet that has no effect on the Gaians at all does not seem to correspond to any effective strategy that may be implemented by the Gaians which I can think of.
It's easy enough to understand, I should think.
Though it might be harder for some others.
My first two sentences said it all.

We have had problems with indie pirates of every stripe in O-49. Mainly corsairs but you do see the odd Hessian or Gaian.

Hmm, interesting, Peter, as I thought about saying exactly that, but decided against it.
Indeed, I associated that narrow spectrum of sneaky Snac-ing pirate you named as soon as I saw this thread.
I would, however, recommend keeping a broader scope on this matter, lest it turn into a specific flame upon said narrow spectrum.

#3 not exactly my logic, its just that when choosing "x faction" you have to stick to rp rules, so as I told the guy "Do you see a xeno in rheinland?" no you dont because it's totally of of their ZOI.

As far as I think this is an ID misunderstanding problem, Gaians should basically attack transports carrying terraforming gases, miing machiones, etc. This is a problem similar to that of the researcher, where the guy thinks that for buying researcher ID he/she thinks can legally trade a full cargo of cardi or artifacts straight into manhattan; just that in this case the guy thought he could pirate like a corsair or rogue, etc. Why not getting a rogue/hacker/OC/corsair/etc etc ID then

On the one hand, there's some logic there, but on the other, the actual percentages of "real" Gaians versus piratical Gaians seem to vary a good deal. In the original proposal for new IDs, Gaians were more terroristic, but as it is now, they're filling the niche of Bretonia's pirates.
