Evaluation of mod 5.0 - Arakius - 10-06-2025
Yo great someone did MODS to great game as Freelancer.
Modding is about repairing games and create new content.
Discovery 5.0 is rathere PVP MOD and its little dissapointing.
Giving a lot of new sectors of Sirius like French will not make game bettere
U make bettere economy in game, new ships, new sectors, new graphic
BUT somwere on road Freelancer vibe was lost.
Freelancer was great game bcs a adventure and here is not:
No exploration (exp) or reward, no "informators in bar", black market via landng on planet great idea but stil a lot is missing from adventure vibe.
MOD is good but with 0 adventure vibe and new fraction and sectors wil not repair it.
Game would be worthy playing only with campaing and some chain quest.
U repair some of old game problems but still far from greatnes...
game is boring without some story plots, reputation mechanics where new options are avalible.
Well a lot of developing and thinking advise. LOL

The devs are aware of what the mod lacks despite the gargantuan amount of work that has gone into it over the years, resulting in Discovery lasting 20 years and still having players. However, there is only so much they can do with the time they have, their limited personnel and the limitations of the games framework. Not to mention that they're all doing so via unpaid volunteering.
I'm sure they'd appreciate more specific features and functions you'd like to see and possibly ways of implementing them too, if you have the time.

Well Freelancer universe is worth saving.
If one day it will be avalible on GOG ( Dreamlist - https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/freelancer )
Lets hope all MODS like Discovery will be on it to, like MODS for Gothic or Skyrim.
Well its PvP MODE and im not sure how it will be possible ( IF ) GOG at last defeat Microsoft
But for sure chance to have battleship ^^ was a missing part from orginal game.
And maybe some chain quests for crew like in SidM PIRATES ^^ ^^ ^^
