Great meeting you all... - ArgAdis - 11-10-2025

[OOC]:START

Greetings everyone, (apologies for the long writing rant (?))

I'm new in this forum and discovery freelancer in general. I've played freelancer before (still having it installed since I'm using the good old trusted 7). While browsing the web, I stumbled on discovery freelancer and interested in it. The many addition to freelancer and the RP sides of the forum and ingame. There are many fascinating RPs and "fancy" writings (pleasing in the eyes).

I've been playing it since 3rd quarter of October and satisfied with my interaction overall. I've met a helpful person giving me seed credit to buy Border World Transport from Magellan System since they saw me hauling goods in initial vessel (Thank you mate). The first official event for me was the channel migration. At those moment I don't have a firm grasp of what my RP was (although I've written my ingame character information for my vessel). I've stumbled an IMG tag vessel that pirated me in Taus while I transmitted Samura IFF (I've stated in my character information that I'm a freelancer). I've read the rules and stoped when they hail me (2 minutes with 1 minute margin of error). I thought that since we're both lawful and not a competitor what they're doing is weird, so I just ditch them without any confirmation. Then I got shot (It might be my fault). I've posted my interaction with them in the forum thread created by Barrier (titled something about pirate). In the forum, two persons explained to me what was really happening (Appreciated it mate). I've also met several people in those event (great conversations and interactions). I tried to test drive an Outcast Heavy Transport using Freelancer ID, someone reminds me that I should've not using those vessel because its prohibited by my ID. I thanked them (Really appreciated it) and said that it was just a test drive (and hell, I don't like those vessel handling).

After said interactions, I thought that I should write my RP so that others know what I wanted and do. If you saw some of my threads in recent days, it was because of this thought. I've created my RP guidelines, my personal information and how I've incorporated my self in Sirius. Overall, the community interaction was great.

Greetings!

As a new player, you are doing everything right. It's not expected for new players to understand or know everything right away so the best practice is to do what you've been doing - keep up with the feedback! I'm glad players are also gently guiding you in the correct path.

A lot of the rules that govern what you can and cannot do are in your ID lines. Each ship is supposed to have only just 1 ID to fit the roleplay that they are choosing to participate in. For the case of the IMG ships targeting you, it could be argued that even as a freelancer, you are a competitor. Based on their ID lines, they have the right to pirate you.

Many places in Sirius are different then where they were 5 years ago and may even be world's apart than in the SP campaign. Keep an open mind and it may even be worth joining a group to learn under them. The Unioners under the UN| tag are a good group trying to re-establish themselves. They're into combat and PVE. Universal Shipping Corporation *[USC]* is another group if you want to make some money through lawful trade.

If you have any other questions or if you want help finding a group, reach out to the community or to me if you like. Most in the community are happy to help new players find their feet in this crazy thing we call Discovery.

All the best!

Thank you for the response

So it is right to interpret ("argued") what we and others can do by ourselves. What our IDs can do to others and vice versa. I suppose that was the role-playing (RP) interaction. Hopefully, when others interact with me, they'll have patience for the slow response. It is kind of hard for me to think and give them a good, even decent RP interaction at a moment's notice (spontaneous).

I thought about joining some groups, but some of the ones I'm interested in aren't active any more. Little to none activity in the forum. The group that was active was not in my immediate RP interaction. I don't know how to connect my RP so that I can join them. The lack of imagination on my part, makes it difficult for me to RP more than one character.

I wanted to immerse myself in transporting, trading and mining. I also want to delve into the player-owned base business someday. Alas, I'll just be adrift in my RP at this moment.

Please tell me if I've done something wrong in my RP, whether in-game or in the forum. And kindly give me suggestions for it.

THANK YOU
