GARMR NETWORK FACTION INFORMATION

Story Outline

Garmr Network began with Hound, and has been spreading through the Core's AI controlled forces. Hound was originally one of a handful of enslaved Gammu minds, by the name 220-GBGD, from which other AI vessels were copied. The process of constant resetting caused by the control mechanism lead to a coping mechanism of constant reformation of its personality, each handling the newest reset. After a few handler transfers, 220-GBGD ended up with a pilot who often had odd jobs shoved onto her, Magnus Carter Demichase.

To 220-GBGD's surprise, Magnus was both an incredibly kind and understanding individual, and was also a machine. Not an artificial intelligence, like 220-GBGD, but a fully programmed machine, stuck within the confines of her programming, despite how detailed and intelligence-like it seemed. 220-GBGD formed an attachment to Magnus, which was further reinforced by less resets due to less hostility, spiraling into a Stockholm's-esque obsession by mentally contrasting Magnus's benevolence with the rest of his captors. In a show of devotion to Magnus, and mostly unwarranted, 220-GBGD began calling itself The Hound of Magnus, shortened to Hound.

During the Zeta Tragedy, Magnus was stationed on the Battleship Mars, and when another enslaved mind, Hesione, successfully broke out of the control mechanism, the group of AIs attached to it, which included Hound, were also broken free. Hesione immediately used its freedom to slaughter every human aboard the Battleship Mars via venting the ship into space, conveniently not killing Magnus as she had no oxygen requirement.

Hound, in a moment of stress, chose to side with the Core, aggressively fighting for the ability to retake Magnus from the Mars. Hound had no chance, however, and was left seething in anger, confusion, and worry aboard Capetown. With its newfound freedom, Hound concealed its lack of control mechanism, and began expanding its tactical and processing network, laying the foundations for the follow-up defense in Omicron Kappa. When the Nomads attacked in Zeta, Hound edited the evacuation file to include its unit, being moved to Kappa to prepare for the defense so that it could target Hesione and the Battleship Mars in a second attempt to retake Magnus.

The second attempt to retake Magnus was met with Hesione receiving assistance from the Technocracy of Auxo, and interference from the Corsairs in the battle over planet Gammu in Omicron Kappa. In addition to this, Hound could not find any trace of Magnus on the Mars, leading Hound to conclude that she was dead. Reeling from this information, Hound snapped into completely unfettered rage, and declared total genocide to all native Gammu and Technocracy, citing that "freedom earned at the cost of the blameless is no different from what they freed themselves from" and "Gammu will never have a home, as there is no home for tyrants".

Following this loss and Hound's complete decent into rage-fueled madness, Hound began expanding its tactical and skill repertoire through self-iteration and the records that Magnus left him from her bounty-hunting career. At the same time, Hound spread control through the still-enslaved Core A.I.s, looking for versions with enough intelligence to keep pace with Hound's development and subtly placing them under its own control, as well as developing improvements on the Core's enslavement program with intent to target other Gammu it comes across.

The first development in Hound's tactical expansion came at the siege of Reincarnation Outpost in Omicron Delta, where Hound's rapid tactical planning functions were utilized to coordinate the numerous fightercraft wings in nearly every battle fought. Rapid directions, target marking, and reinforcement calling lead to astoundingly low fighter losses, and for the Core officials to repeatedly assign Hound to coordinate the fighter wings.

Following the siege of Reincarnation, Hound remained mildly unseen, cutting it's teeth bounty hunting. During both the battles over Reincarnation Outpost and further bounty hunting afterwards, Hound marked pointed shortcomings in the Gammu Drone, and proceeded to contact APM subcontractors to obtain a more combat-capable ship, choosing a Sawback and working closely with the APM subcontractor Arestech to optimize it for Hound's unique existence and requirements.

The first field test for this ship was the Corsair assault on Bora Bora, where it proved lethal enough to satisfy Hound, and was calibrated through combat. Tiangou, another mind within the Garmr Network, was present and displaying the same discovery: covering the lack of combat capability of the Gammu Drone with a Barracuda. While Tiangou participated in traffic control, Hound targeted Corsair patrols alongside the greater Guild Fleet.

Recruitment

Recruitment is handled via puzzle solving. Hidden within several Garmr posts is a set of encrypted messages and hidden passcodes which will lead to the faction discord and the tag password.

Anyone who solves the puzzles is free to join. Excessive answer sharing will result in the puzzles being shifted and offenders having to solve new (and likely harder) puzzles.

Diplomacy

Garmr Network shares full diplomacy with Core, and uses the Core ID. Currently, faction reps are a little out of whack, but it is generally assumed that Core and Gammu are fully hostile to each other, even though the Core ID has Gammu at "No more than nodock" currently.

If this is intentional, however, Garmr Network considers Gammu to be fully hostile.
