[FLHook] Cloak behaviour during jumping - Krmloo - 01-12-2026

Type: FLHook
Bug: Cloak battery consumption spikes when going through the jump animation, frequently draining most of the batteries out.

Reproduction Steps:
  • Cloak
  • Jump
  • Code:
    Cloaking device shutdown, no fuel
    Cloaking device off
  • Jump a couple more times to trigger this at it seems a bit inconsistent.

Also, going through the jump animation while the cloak is charging forcibly removes the cloak with a "Alert: Cloaking device overheat detected. Shutting down." which I think can be adjusted at this point.

The cloak charge being forcibly removed on jump is to prevent a specific exploit where the ship is invisible to other players but can still shoot them. This is most likely a moot point as player presence causes a decloak now.
I believe the rapid drain in cloak batteries is because the battery consumption thinks you have traveled a great distance from your "last" location in the system you exited. For example, if you take a JH in the bottom of the system to emerge at the top of the new system, the game thinks you traveled the distance between those two points as though they were in the same system.

Yeah the battery drain is actually tied into the fact that when you jump you actually fly off at ludicrous speed to the edge of the map. This has also caused issues for people with high latency or people that were tabbed out of the game while jumping through JHs that had minefields around them, as the minefield would do damage while you were in the jump animation and potentially kill you.
