Good Evening,

My name's Jeremy Bronn, security executive for Cryer Pharmaceuticals. We've got a situation.

On 17.01 one of our employees, Dr. Eric Moore, was kidnapped travelling from Syracuse to Cambridge Research station. According to the commander aboard the sole surviving vessel of their security wing, Travis Coleman, Dr. Moore's party was intercepted and engaged within the New London system. We have since received a ransom notice from them demanding money and goods in exchange for his life.

Dr. Moore is a critical member of staff. Their safe return is of critical importance. I have little choice but to entreat with these miscreants so that the Doctor may be returned to us. That is, of course, unless an alternative can be found swiftly enough to avoid harm to Eric.

Please advise.

Mr Bronn

Given the nature of this issue, and the identity of the kidnappers, I have taken the liberty of copying in my colleagues in the Intelligence Services.

To try and secure the best possible outcome for Dr Moore, we are going to need some additional details.

- The ransom message implies Dr Moore's kidnapping was opportunistic. Do you have any reason to believe otherwise?
- Where did the kidnapping occur? System and specific grid location, if known.
- Have any other Cryer personnel been taken - escorts, transport crew? Is Moore the only hostage the Mollys are holding?
- Did the Mollys commandeer Dr Moore's ship, or extract him and abandon the ship? If the ship was taken, do Cryer have trackers installed?
- Can you share the communications logs on the incident from Mr Coleman's security ship?
- Are you intending to pay the demand? Have the Mollys specified where the dead-drop will be located?
- What was the nature of Dr Moore's work at the CRI? Are there any national security implications to him falling into Molly hands?

Our pilots will be on high alert for relevant leads, but it is likely that the Mollys will have ensconced Dr Moore in one of their hideouts. As a result, it is unlikely that we stand much of a chance of retrieving him unless they have cause to move him.

In consultation with colleagues in the Intelligence Services, we will consider all available options.

Yours sincerely

Good Morning Inspector O'Sullivan,

Thank you for your response and taking the situation seriously. Following are answered to your questions:
  • The kidnapping occured between the Manchester Jump Gate in New London and Planet Dover according to Mr Coleman. F3/F4, if you need a pin on a the nav-map.
  • As far as we are aware, Dr. Moore is the only hostage the Molly's have taken. All others were lost save Mr Coleman and their crew.
  • I do not yet have a location for the ransom drop off.
  • Mr Coleman believes otherwise. I've attached access to Mr. Coleman's account of the incident within which they state they believe it was a planned operation.
  • I am currently prepare the delivery of the ransom demands. I'm loathe to but Dr. Moore is an important individual and a significant asset to our corporation. Dr. Moore is a senior member of our microbiology department and, pertinantly, was a lead on our work on Carlisle. They have indepth knowledge of the clean zone project, the bacteria the terraforming generators protect again, and access to our sample bank.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Unless advised otherwise I shall proceed with the ransom.

Mr Bronn,

What a pickle we find ourselves in. I'm sure I don't have to explain how bad this situation is, nor why.

We need to know everything about Dr. Moore's work, everything related to Carlisle. This surely is not a coincident that he was the target, given the nature of his work. Where are the rest of the team who worked on this particular project? Officers are being repositioned to your facilities to deter any further security breaches. One lost Doctor is bad enough, we don't need more.

Please provide us with a list of names, post haste as it were. Project details to go along with them.

As for the Doctor himself, proceed with your negotiations, we'll be hijacking the signal, everything will go through the Falkirk, this way we have direct access. Ask for proof of life, that is paramount, especially if we're going to garner a location. Not many places they can be hiding him.

If I were you, I'd be keeping your staff under observation. You may have a mole.

We'll be waiting.

Arkwright out.

Transmission Ends

Evening Arkwright,

What a pickle indeed. You certainly don't need to share how serious the situation is. I've been working around the clock with my staff to address this issue.

We've called in the rest of the team to Syracuse where they're going through a thorough debriefing. You're welcome to send someone our way if you want a word with them yourselves. They worked with Dr. Moore on a project looking to achieve bacterial eradication which fed into the subsequent clean zone approach. He, and the team, have specialised roles focused on the continuing study of Carlisle microbiology. Project details and employee dossiers are on their way to you.

I've asked for proof of life and a location to proceed with the ransom.

Here's hoping.

Eyup

I'm going over me boss' head to let you know (sorry inspector), but we got your fella back.

Hope you ain't paid any ransoms yet.

He's on New London at the moment, so we're going through the whole verification of ID and debrief thing. Just making sure we didn't rescue a Molly in a white coat, ya know? We've pulled the biometrics records for his door passes on Gateshead, so that shouldn't take too long.

I reckon BIS will want a piece of him before he's cut loose, but after that, all yours. You can pick him up from New Scotland Yard... Or wherever BIS drags him off to next.

We shed a whole lot of blood and sweat pulling this off. Saved Cryer a pretty penny to boot. Firefights, dramatic rescue, ruin wrought upon the Molly scum. Basic stuff.

Shame we've got no budget these days. Even the Christmas bonus got cut this year. Oh well. The Doc sure was grateful though... he wanted to pass on a tip, but those Molly buggers took his wallet.

Sergeant Reggie Top,

Bravo. Bravo indeed! I won't ask questions about how you pulled this off, though it sounds particularly dramatic and heroic. I'm over the moon that you did though. Better yet, just before I was going to fly out the ransom demands with a wing myself and pay the bloody sods. You've saved a lot of pain financially but more importantly you've saved Dr Moore themselves.

Considering I've already gone through the rigmarole of getting these ransom fees approved with Finance and the Board, and they won't know the difference, let me look at remediating that Christmas bonus situation. Doesn't sit right with me knowing you've saved a lot of lives today.

Should I wait on BIS to get in contact about when we can come pick the poor doctor up, or will you let us know when they've got the green light?

Mr Bronn,

The CDI did your lot a service there. A credit to Bretonia you could say.

We've had our pound of flesh from the Doctor. Might want to go easy on him for a few weeks, he's had it rough.

We'll be continuing our investigations, if we need anything in future, we'll contact you.

For now, he's all yours.
