A new weapon

Far far at the fringes of known space, deep within the Wall of Seth, rests a slumbering princess.

For over a decade the Orders Science Division stationed primarily at the Carthage Capital Yards have worked tirelessly to familiarize themselves with the foreign systems, relying on careful reverse engineering and highly valued external advice. Ten years ago when the project had been sponsored by Admiral Jeremy Hunter progress seemed promising; the hull of the vessel was restored and reinforced, three highly valuable IRG powercells were obtained to bring it back to life and research into adapting an Osiris cloaking device to fit it was well underway.

Unfortunately, this is where the project hit a snag. Gallic technology for the vessel and its WARWOLF weapon, borderline Human/Nomad Hybrid technology for the powercells and Order technology for its internal systems, cloaking device and supplementary weaponry, this ambitious combination of various technology and power interfaces proved to be near disastrous. During a test run with a different, smaller vessel so many years ago, the vessel suffered devastating damage.

Now, after a decades worth of work later, the Order was finally on the brink of breaking through this technological impass.

The catch.

Nothing in life comes easy however and this is a fact that is especially true in the Omicrons.
The Order Science Division had not only been working on this project from the Carthage Capital Yards; a great deal of the work had been performed at Alexandria Research Station. A station that was attacked and nearly destroyed by an infected led Kusari Office of Intelligence assault. For all intents and purposes however it might as well have been. The stations commander, unwilling to risk letting the quarantine seals of the base be broken, initiated a self destruct sequence, flooding the base with deadly radiation. Much of the OSD's findings now lay as dormant as the Gallic vessel for which it had been conceived, until now.

The research vessel Order|CV-Daedalus, ferrying some of the Orders brightest minds and reinforced with the special protective gear that was used when investigating Jericho would allow an away team to board the irradiated sarcofagus for a short duration and, with a bit of luck, salvage what research they could find.

The order was given and after a harrowing journey through the battlefield graveyard of the KOI's assault with the Hakodate fleet, the Daedalus finally arrived at the research station turned sepulchur.

Graverobbing.

The former station was completely dark, most electronics fried by the self destructive purge, corpses littering the floor. The remais were too irradiated to recover and bring back, it seemed their deaths had at least been swift and, hopefully, painless. Some of the expressions on their decomposing faces seemed to suggest otherwise. The fact that the bodies had started to decompose at all implied there was still some oxygen present in the station, though with the radiation as present as it was that wouldn't do the away team any good.

"Enou- lollyg-ging" said a gruff voice over the radio, the radiation even interfering with the frequency it seemed."Your protection will only last a short while, get a move on." The steps of the away team echoed throughout coldly throughout the hall, preliminary scans of the Daedalus had confirmed most of the hallway infrastructure was still intact however the state of the elevators meant they would have to take a costly detour through the maintenance crawlways. With time of the essence the team quickly proceeded through the base, trying to block the images of former friends and colleagues dead on the floor, some of the team had been stationed here before the KOI assault, essentially dodging a metaphorical bullet when they were transferred.

Upon arrival at the labs the team quickly scattered, looking for any piece of salvageable hardware, time was already starting to run out however, they had spent almost half of the duration the equipment could realistically protect them just by getting here. "Hey captain, I think I've got something." one of the agents called out, her voice sounded excited, hopeful even. Having had mediocre luck at best the team turned to look at what she had found; a somewhat functioning datapad from the chief scientist of the research station. "This is as close as we're going to get to finding anything relevant, good job." with a nod of approval the away team placed the datapad in a small transport container, lined with compound not too unlike led to keep the radiation contained. It was the best they could do given the circumstances.

With their mission complete the team made haste back towards the Daedalus, failing to notice a sinister creature slithering out of the room behind them.

Debriefing.

The away team reports a successful retrieval operation from Alexandria Research Station.
The Daedalus was able to confirm the retrieved datapad contains relevant information on project SNOW WHITE and has transmitted the data to the Carthage Capital Yards.
Admiral Jeremy will be pleased, it is finally time to wake up SNOW WHITE from her cursed sleep.
