Lewiston Prison Attacked

PLANET ERIE - Latest news reports out of Erie suggest the increase in Militant activity is reaching beyond the capabilities of Liberty Police as a Militant assault team raided Lewiston Prison. Lewiston, a correctional and rehabilitation facility, housed many hardened criminals and chiefly captured Separatists from the Bering Campaign that saw the purge of criminal elements from Bering. In the early hours of 3-25-836 AS, explosions shook the facility as light aircraft dropped in the unidentified assailants. Police and correctional officers were overwhelmed by these uniquely trained terrorists, but managed a call for aid to the Liberty Army.

Liberty's 124th External Security Battalion responded to the incursion and engaged the terrorists in close combat as prisoners fled from their cells. With the arrival of the 124th, the terrorists, identified now as Militants who continue to resist Liberty's efforts in Pennsylvania, the terrorists began to flee the scene with a number of freed Separatists. Initial reports on the ground say there has been extensive damage to Lewiston and a large number of guards and Policemen have been killed, but in turn 18 of the raiders were killed in the most intense battle on the ground since the Gallic War.

A spokesman for the Erie Governors Office has released a statement that security will be tightened and the perpetrators will be brought to justice. It has been surmised that the liberation of the captured Separatists, a mix of former Navy officers and crew with experience in combat, was the aim of the assault. The Spokesman has assured the public that even with their escape, these Separatists were defeated before and will be defeated again.

Anyone else finding it odd that the Militants are being more brazen? I saw some in these teal 'NAVPAT' uniforms during that fight and some of the peeps on Sirichannel /k/ are saying they're Utsunomiyan Navy, some sort of Zoner nation-state out of Gran Can. Navy friend said one of their ships sunk one of ours weeks ago and that the Navy's been having a hard time fighting them. Really getting nervous about staying here on Erie if our house can't protect us, especially from some backwater Zoner navy.

I think @Fleetarin is probably right. The local Militants are just bloodthirsty hillbillies and dirt-rakers. Erie's people prefer the Republic's generous citizenship offers, and the holdouts aren't smart enough to free these turncoat traitors from Bering anyway. Anything left of their cause no doubt consists of these foreign radicals that don't have Erie's interests at heart.

Don't mourn the deaths of Liberty's fodder. They didn't mourn defenseless civilians in Cortez when the LSF gunned them down like dogs on the trade lanes. 'Terrorist' is just a label they slap on anyone they don't like that threatens Ageira's monopoly on your lives.

Holy crap the leader of the Penny Zoners just responded. This is gonna get heated. Also I have a friend that does shipping to FP-14 in Inverness, and theres like a Zoner Bustard nearby. I mean its just a light carrier, but I feel they are gonna do something...
