Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - William Frederick Cody - 06-08-2009 We have the rule 3.1: Quote:3.1 Using coarse language, posting abusive, hateful, racist content in chat, public or private, is prohibited under any circumstances.and 3.2: Quote:3.2 Flaming, threats and insulting (in any form) other members, factions, server administrators in chat, public or private, is prohibited on server and on forums. RP-related threats are allowed on the server. All good and fine. If you cant say it in TV, don't say it in sirius. That are strict rules, and apparently sometimes they're hard to obey, but i like that rules. That rules are granting a better athmosphere. It's very simple: Don't swear, that's all. But: 1. We have some avatars, that are movies, were people died (comic style or real). Maybe it seems cool, but for me it's only disgusting. 2. We have some pictures (comics too) here, that are not for 12-years-old-teenies. I remember a topic in media center month ago, something about a new picture for anything. I saw the picture, and a question hit my brain: "Is she wearing panties or not?" 3. We we have some vilent stories (ok, like title says: far-fetched) in the RP session, that are rivers of blood. Where to draw the line? My thoughts: 1. and 2. are not ok. Only a feeling and my intention to post this. Too sexy or too violent for my eyes. Call me a washcloth. 3. is ok. Why? We are playing a game, were we shoot eachother. And because of RP. But: Are those bloody stories really neccessary? Discuss! Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - Grumblesaur - 06-08-2009 Some things cannot be expressed using mild vocabulary, but those same things are prohibited on most of the forums/server. Therefore, we have the Stories section. Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - Imperialis - 06-08-2009 Cater to the masses. Not to the individual. I think your sig reminds me of your ship doing a massive fart to be honest. Not the nicest sig I would think and I could call it offensive. But would you? Doubtful. So really, it's all opinion. I don't see anything on the forums that any child that may be members here would not see in almost every day of their life. (Apart from spaceships, those a bit of a given though:P) Plus, remember you play a game where the main objective is to kill people. The entire game is mainly about the slaughter of thousands of people on a nearly weekly scale. We fire high powered energy blasts at each other in the hope of throwing the pilot of the enemy vessel into the vacuum of space to die a horrific death, simply to further our own goals and sate our lust for carnage. Its a violent game, and since the game box has a "T" on it we should treat the community as a "T" one. As for the avatar, its only a question of logic, use your brain too,do you think my avatar are too hard for here? Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - pchwang - 06-08-2009 Discovery caters to a broad spectrum of ages, and as a result, we must attune our content to a level that can be accepted by all. So while many of use may lament the fact that we cannot have partially nude pictures of Tricia Helfer or Keira Knightly in our signatures, there are also those who are much too young for content like that. Even though there's 12 year old's on the server. What do you think they see on TV? Happy bunnies bouncing around? There's more sex in a music video clip than there is on a soft porn website these days, and more swearing in some movies and series than on the '10 words that you don't say on the radio' list. If they're gonna 'pick it up', itt'l probaply be on the streets, in the schools or on the television.
