Missile/Torpedo sound effects - rayne - 06-19-2009 The sounds they make currently are very disappointing. Would it be possible to add something to make them sound "a bit more real" Missile/Torpedo sound effects - Jinx - 06-19-2009 what is the real sound of such weapons? - i really don t know, never been to the military... and i generally find RL weapons quite disgusting. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - Benjamin - 06-19-2009 I like the FS/SW noise. Hardly use them so I don't even know the others. Mine dropping noise is a bit feeble though. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - sovereign - 06-19-2009 Explosions are loud... very loud. Guns are loud too, but explosions are a lot louder. Granted, this is space, but the comparisons should still be the same. It it hit you you would hear it anyway. The fact that the Grand Culverin looks and sounds a LOT like a supernova is also a little unsportsmanlike... not terribly nice to our enemies, as cool as it is. Hmm... I'm sure some of our members who have been in militaries can find something comparable via YouTube or somesuch and get across the difference. And the super nova uses the same sound effect that Flamecruises use. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - Jamez - 06-19-2009 Just to clear it up.. the Supernova uses the exact same sound effect as a high-level plasma gun. I'd say the worst ordinance effects at the moment are the 'dumbfire' missiles (like the Cannonball, in comparison to the 'homing' Firestalker). That's the lamest missile launch effect I've ever heard, I don't know what Digital Anvil were thinking whan they added that in. The other one would be the explosion sound effect when a mine hits something. I've heard farts more powerful than that. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - Skysurfer - 06-20-2009 To be honest the entire missile/torpedo system/effects need to be redone - perhaps a .86 feature? Anyway, the impacts are sufficient: I enjoy the pleasant crack freelancer Emulates when a mine strikes it's target - but the launches are lackluster. I don't expect to hear a "click" when I let loose a "dumbfire" missile - I expect a blam - an explosive launch, jettisoning the missile out of the launcher before it's main engine engages. Even a "poof" followed by a "whoosh" would be better. And torpedoes? For vanilla torpedoes I expect a loud clunk as the grapples release the torpedo, then a loud "bang" and a "whoosh" as the main engine activates. As for Nova and Supernova.... Perhaps something similar to a Romulan Plasma Torpedo launch? My two euros/cents/yen/whatever. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - Guest - 06-20-2009 Freelancer needs explosion sounds with large bass....like SOSE has. Zoom in when you're bombarding a planet, if you have a decent subwoofer you can feel the room vibrate. Sound doesnt travel in space, so technically there would be no sound at all. Missile/Torpedo sound effects - tansytansey - 06-20-2009 The only sci-fi I've ever seen that has no sound in space has been Firefly (Serenity had muffled sound effects in space). A video game doesn't have to be 100% realistic. That's what makes it a video game. Personally I think the sound effects are fine. Maybe we could do with a few unique ones for special weapons like Mortars and SNACs, but I've never had a problem with the way Missiles and stuff launch. Though their explosions do seem grossly underrated. Maybe if I had my sound up higher it'd sound better. |
