Gallic Weapon Platforms - frozen - 07-06-2009
Well, i was hoping to keep this as a surprise for most of the community, but seeing the current mood on the forums, i figured a change of atmosphere would be a good thing. so, without further ado, i bring to you, the gallic weapon platforms. modelled and textured by me using textures made by doom/angel of mercy for the gallic shiplines, there are two variants., the first one is a single section, 2 turret platform, the other is the one which will be more commonly found around gallia, replacing the current weapon platforms that are being used in gallia.

Nice work, your weapon models overall are very nice, this platform full of them is no exception.
BUT
Why does Gallia get all the fancy new stuff? Their CIVILIAN weapon model looks better than most, if not all vanilla models.
Not to mention we can't use it unless we're bloody French.

Gallic textures are pretty. I agree that Gallia needs more new non-sirius things. It kind of breaks the atmposhere of a civilisation that's been cut off from the rest of the sector for centuries if all of their bases and equipment all look exactly the same.

I like the design but what are the empty rectangles for? And what are those kind of buttons in some of those rectangles?
It's good to have a nice design but it's also good in my opinion when the design has a purpose.

if you see the standard platform, 2 singles are connected by those rectangles to form a standard platform. if you still dont understand what i mean, they are connectors. you can arrange multiple platforms together to form a chain/hub of weapon platforms.
in terms of those windows textures being there, the standard platform is double the size of the normal ones, so i thought perhaps have a bit of windows etc to show that people can land on the platform to conduct repairs/maintenance of the platforms.
