Something Needs to be Done... - onca - 01-29-2007 .... to avoid stupid bloody situations like this one: [attachmentid=1279] [attachmentid=1280] Now I had two choices: 1. Abort the mission like any sane person (and take a rep hit) 2. Continue with the mish hoping some bug in the Sun won't destroy my ship -- bet you can't guess which one I took?????????? Hint: I had just found some really nice class9 weps and was waiting to make enough $$$ for a better ship. Its's absolutely ridiculous. And that's not all. I've had several so-called mid-level missions, worth a measley $70-$80k, where they throw VHFs with class 10 shields at you. So I pound away in my Wolfhound bucket-of-cr*p with class.5 weps, but their shields regenerate faster than my weps can deal damage. After 20 minutes of this nonsense I abort mission. Is it just me? Have I been singled out for Dis' indiscriminate wrath? Have I offended the almighty RNG somehow? Or is it a case of "typical of my luck". Oh sanity........................ </rant> o. Something Needs to be Done... - Nightfall - 01-29-2007 Ouch mate! as for the 'overclassed' VHFs, it happened to me too - me in a Dagger, BHGs in Magellan in Barracudas, me class 3-4 weaps, 5mins at least to get through a Barracuda's shields and then it regenerates:( Something Needs to be Done... - StrangeCase - 01-29-2007 That looks like... ouch... o_0 Something Needs to be Done... - Fellow Hoodlum - 01-29-2007 Never seen that one before ... Occasionally when we are grouped doing missions, the waypoint for some will be shown flicking to the sun. This normally happens when one of the group is at distance, and the 'mission commission' seems unable to decide your best route to the system involved. I have had the same long stays in Magellan, with one BHG mission taking over an hour to complete. The financial rewards were not worth the effort. Maybe the Bounty Hunters are getting wise to the Hackers now. Make more selling the pilots, than the mission pays. Bloody pirates ... Hoodlum Something Needs to be Done... - marauder - 01-29-2007 Or a nice low 195 k kill ships... 11 friggin BHG destroyers, thanks alot. I helped out a guy a while ago, it was out of RP to do so but, the poor guy had some 16 BHG destroyers turn up, along with at least 12 hammerheads... against a lone viper. It was, apparently, a 240 to 300 k mission... Oh and while I'm on the subject of missions... don't take 'kill base' missions in NY when your just starting out, the weapon platforms are bloody hard to kill and they drop your shield with one missile or two shots. Though I must admit that I would like to see a mission payout of 2 mil plus, against just destroyers and/or BS's, that would make having a capship pretty useful. Something Needs to be Done... - Dab - 01-29-2007 Onca, when that happens you can F1 out. Aborts the mission, without the rep loss. Then you just reselect another mission from the bar and F1 until you find one you can actually do. And yeah, I've gotten those multiple destroyer missions in Alpha.. My no-armor-upgrade Eagle vs. 7 BHG destroyers and 10 Hammerheads.. Something Needs to be Done... - romer - 01-29-2007 I've seen something similar to this. Mission waypoint right on the sun. Just out of curiosity I flew out there to try it out and right when the enemy ships pop up on my HUD, they get fried by the sun. Something Needs to be Done... - Virus - 01-29-2007 You have to LEAVE THE SERVER to abort a mission without taking a rep-hit. Going to the character screen does nothing, unless you're already at the waypoint, in which case, it will fail you, where leaving the server won't. Something Needs to be Done... - onca - 01-29-2007 @Dab & Virus: Thanks I'll remember that. Yeah missions need a serious re-balancing.... I've taken $500k missions in O-47, in my Titan up against 6 BHG destroyers. Not too bad, just took a looooooooooong while. But then another $500k mish against a bunch of Hessian Sabres, and *bam* I'm done in 10 minutes. Here's another cracker: Sigma-13, in a Drake against Corsairs. 1st wave, 6x Centurions; 2nd wave, 2x Titans; 3rd wave, 8x Legionaires. Not so bad, it just took a *looooooong* time, over an hour to hack away at the Titans who use all their bats&bots of course. Then the reward: A huge $45k. In that time I could've made 8x the money doing mishs against Mollys. Another one: S-13, same Drake, Corsairs again. Assassinate a target mission. When two Titans showed up I laughed. That is until I discovered they had the top L.10 shield available. It regenerated faster than my weapons could damage it. After 5 minutes of dodging Tizona fire, 12 extra Centurions showed up. It was just stupid, pointless madness. I wish I'd taken a screenshot. Oh and the reward? A king's ransom of $70k. I think it's to do with the system your in.... a "weaker" system will give you proportionally more money for a mish which throws harder enemies than what you'd normally see in that system, but seems to be out of alignment with other "harder" systems. The worst part is you don't know what you're gonna be dealt until you get there... the mission level is not a good indicator. Missions can be real turkeys:angry: o. Something Needs to be Done... - BestFlyerHere - 01-30-2007 I agree, there should be specifically designated battleship encounter missions. That would be a fun to make money in a capship... |
