Easy, I just tested it, really.

Asking two million from 10 traders. One paid, 2 F1ned, other 7 died as they tried to flee or open fire.

I made 2 million off 10 traders + what I could tractor in on my Barghest.

Now I asked 500k

9 paid, 1 died as he opened fire without a word.

500 x 9 = 4.5 million

It is more profitable both for YOU and the TRADER if you ask less.

On my pirate, I find one million to be the best amount to ask for. (Since, if I use my nova bombers I need to re-stock them.)

very true...

when someone pirates me and asks for less, he gets more. why? because he shows he`s no greedy "2milordai" nitwit.

also, this stuff about dropping all your cargo... I wish they`d stop that...

Totally agree to this.
When i'm roaming around in my Shire i don't mind paying 500k even to 3 pirates. When everyone is demanding 2 milion though, i will start running/shooting at the second demand at the latest.

Speaking generally, i am willing to pay any demand up to one million without to much arguing.

I usually try to bargain with everyone who is demanding more than one million, since most pirates i've met usually hesitate to attack a Shire directly, especially when i am travelling in convoy with a second Shire.

Depending on the odds i start running guns blazing or just pay up, but if i do, the Pirate can bet on that i'm not going to use that route in the next hours.

If a pirate asks nicely enough, i give one or two bottles of wine and/or tobacco extra to the credits.

Of course it is tightly knit to the person himself, but I think every trader can allow themselves to donate 500k, really. Unless its a camara or such where even 100k seems a tad too much.

Pirates that pirate Gulls, or lesser ships for three million need to be taken out.

Agreed on that. I just don't see traders pass by my usual spots anymore. I mean , before .85 , my Bundschuh was able to strip away many traders of their cargo. These days , I'm lucky to see even 1 trader pass by during my entire FL gaming time.

The maximum i want is a Million. And then only 5K transports. More than 1 Million is only at special times: Trader shot me, tried to escape, etc.

You really make more money with demanding less Credits. But people also refused paying 10K Credits to my Bloodhound. Also i know someone who pirated the people only for jokes a whole day. The most of them died...
