Getting the tougher non-vanilla ships - Seriphyn - 02-08-2007

Hey guys,

I'm currently in the Eagle, the ship I used back in vanilla (3rd best as I recall) and I was wondering if there was an upgrade to Eagle, as Hammerhead has the Manta upgrade.

I'm wondering, do you guys know where I can get such a ship? I also noticed the Avenger was pretty good, tougher armour then the Manta but somewhat cheaper....this got me lost a bit

It is also possible for me to grab the Titan, as I'm friends with the Corsairs as I've been blowing the crap out of Outcasts (and I'm lawful lol) but tbh I don't like the aesthetics of that ship.

Anyway, what ship do you recommend to get after the Eagle? Is the Manta better? Or the Avenger? Are there other House equivalents of the Avenger, like for Bretonia? Basically any VHF better then the Eagle? Power drain is also something I'm concerned about.

Eagle doesn't have, nor need a higher-level copy.

Eagle already has level 10 weaponry and shield. Defender did not, hence the MkII version, the Guardian and Avengers. The high-level copies are made for the fighters that do not have level 10 weaponry, those that already do, such as Sabre, Titan, and Eagle, do not need upgraded versions.

Well I guess that would make sense. In that case, is there any ships with higher power? Eg, the Manta or Avenger. Less drain and stuff.

The fighters work in a give-take method. Ships with more power and armor, have less agility. Once with more firepower generally have more power to handle that firepower, but less agility. Sabre has more power, firepower, and armor than Eagle by a small bit, but its agility isn't as good. It all balances out. I don't know the specific energy usages of the ships. If you want to drastically lower the energy drain, I'd suggest getting a couple nomads to replace two of your other turrets. Take next-to-no energy to shoot, and do decent damage.
