Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-25-2009 Alex Heartnet took one last look at the blueprints for her salvage frigate. She drew up the blueprints herself, copying parts from no one. This was going to be a real engineering challenge, far more then the home built fighter she made out of spare parts. Additionally, building one required a lot of materials - far more then a snub-class craft. After spending hours doing calculations, she came up with a list of what was needed. Storage: <strike>Cryocubes: 1000(Slow down decay of materials)</strike> Frame: Super Alloy: <strike>20,000</strike>, Ship Hull Panels: <strike>20,000</strike> Drills, saws, and other tools: <strike>Basic Alloys: 5,000(Machine Parts), Diamonds/Blood Diamonds: 1000(Diamond tipped drills and such)</strike>, <strike>Copper/Silver/Superconductors: 1000(Electrical Wiring)</strike>, Counterfeit Software: 25(Computing Programs), <strike>Mining Machinery: 1000</strike> (Drills and stuff), Nanocapacitors: 1000(Power the ship), Optical Chips: 500(Computing), <strike>Robotic Components: 1000(Parts)</strike> Engine: <strike>Beryllium: 500(Anti-Radiation)</strike>, <strike>High-temp alloys: 500(To keep the engine from melting)</strike>, <strike>Engine Components: 1000 (Duh!)</strike>, <strike>Gold: 100 (Reflection of Radiation)</strike>, <strike>Iridium: 100 (Anti-heat)</strike>, <strike>Optical Chips: 50(Computing)</strike>, <strike>Superconductors: 500(Wiring)</strike> Reactor: <strike>Beryllium: 500(Anti-Radiation)</strike>, <strike>Boron: 100 (Boron-10 control rods)</strike>,<strike> Colbalt&Niobium/High-temp alloys: 500(To keep the reactor from melting)</strike>, <strike>Gold: 100 (Reflection of Radiation)</strike>, <strike>Iridium: 100 (Anti-heat)</strike>, <strike>Nuclear Devices: 1 (The reactor itself)</strike>, <strike>Optical Chips: 50(Computing)</strike>, <strike>Superconductors: 500(Wiring)</strike> <strike>Fuel: Deuterium: 1000(Cruise speed fuel), H-fuel: 1000 (Impulse-speed Fuel), MOX: 1000 (Reactor Fuel)</strike> <strike>Bridge: Bio-Neural Processors: 100 (Computing), Counterfeit Software: 25(Computing Programs), Superconductors: 500(Wiring), Optical Chips: 50(Computing), Nanocapacitors: 100(Computing)</strike> Crew Supplies: Food: 25, Water: 25, Oxygen:25, Pharmacuticals: 25 Luxuries: Consumer Goods: 25, Counterfeit Software: 25(Movies, games, exc.), Holo-tainment Bands: 25, Light Arms: 25 (Assault Rifles for self-defense), Luxury Consumer Goods: 25, Wine: 25, Tobacco: 25 Total: Cryocubes: 1,000, Super Alloy: <strike>20,000</strike>, Ship Hull Panels: <strike>20,000</strike>, Basic Alloys: 5,000, Diamonds: 1,000, Superconductors: 2,500, Counterfeit Software: 50, Mining Machinery: 1000, Nanocapacitors: 1,100, Optical Chips: 650, Robotic Components: 1000, <strike>Beryllium: 1000</strike>, <strike>High-temp alloys: 1000</strike>, <strike>Engine Components: 1000</strike>, <strike>Gold: 200</strike>, <strike>Iridium: 200</strike>, <strike>Nuclear Devices</strike>: 1, Deuterium: 1000, H-fuel: 1000, MOX: 1000, Bio-neural processors: 100 After all the hard work, compiling a list, Alex went to the bar to get herself a drink. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-25-2009 After getting completely drunk off of a shot glass of wine, and having to lay down for a couple of days, Alex started delivering the supplies needed to build the frame. The ship hull panels were delivered from Culebra Smelters to Vieques Shipyard free of charge, she only had to pay for the costs of the cargo. Delivery of the super alloys, though, was another matter. The good news is that any surplus building materials could be sold off to the shipyard. http://yfrog.com/58screen6kp http://yfrog.com/ebscreen8vp http://yfrog.com/0oscreen9hp http://yfrog.com/5hscreen49p http://yfrog.com/0wscreen11rp After finally unloading all the cargo needed, she begin building the frame. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-26-2009 After spending days working, Alex finally got the ship hull built. But it was just the hull - there was a lot of work to do. So she set out to procure more materials. http://yfrog.com/0iscreen12mp http://yfrog.com/18screen13fp http://yfrog.com/0dscreen14yp http://yfrog.com/4ascreen50p http://yfrog.com/0wscreen51hp After selling off the excess Beryllium to Culebra Smelter, she went to work on building the open-chamber fusion reactor. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-27-2009 After nearly overloading the reactor when testing it, Alex finally got a working power source. The next step was to make the engines. Problem is, Alex sold off the excess Beryllium, and she needed more to build the engine. Time for some more salvaging. http://yfrog.com/76screen52p http://yfrog.com/0bscreen53ep http://yfrog.com/7hscreen54kp http://yfrog.com/5uscreen55p http://yfrog.com/0bscreen56yp With that done, all that was left to make the ship operational was to build the bridge. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-27-2009 As it turns out, Vieques Shipyard has its own re-fueling faculties, so there is no need to bring fuel to the ship. Also, the cryocubes were not needed at all. This was great, as Alex could focus on her task, which is building the bridge. http://yfrog.com/5ascreen57p http://yfrog.com/7gscreen58p http://yfrog.com/4qscreen59p The salvage frigate was not complete yet, but it was flyable, so Alex decided to take it out for a test ride. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-27-2009 After taking the ship down for a test run, Alex decided it is time to finish up the construction, and use the salvage frigate to obtain the commodities needed to build the tools. http://yfrog.com/5oscreen61p http://yfrog.com/10screen62p http://yfrog.com/0xscreen64p http://yfrog.com/3pscreen65p While I was doing that, I arranged for some help in delivering the rest of the goods, thanks goodness. After, that I was all ready to finish construction of the salvage frigate. Construction of a Salvage Frigate - crimecities - 07-29-2009 Well, after struggling for hours, I finally got the tools working. And it was fun! I gotta build something like this again! http://yfrog.com/14screen67p http://yfrog.com/71screen68p http://yfrog.com/17screen69p http://yfrog.com/0cscreen70lp |
