Update client - Asymptotic - 02-12-2007 Isn't it possible to have a separate .EXE that checks the server for an update, downloads it if needed, and then starts the game? This would also make system claiming/base creation, simple changes, etc. much easier to implement quickly. There could be a weekly update (without a distinctly different "version release.") Update client - Mickk - 02-12-2007 Yes, it is possible to do that, just take a look any of the Guild Wars games, they do exactly what you said. The only problem is that someone would have to code the EXE and sort out several other things to make it work. Update client - Kaze_2 - 02-12-2007 actually, FLCD does this, as ive seen with a couple of other servers. Update client - Kaze_2 - 02-12-2007 probably because its quite laggy for 1. Its a clientside download which, if you wanna use it, you load it up before loading up freelancer. HC uses it as an optional, which they also do other features through it. Update client - DBoy1612 - 02-12-2007 I want to see this... FLCD.. Link please. |
