Server host required - robdollar - 08-02-2009 I'm looking for a hosting company with ideally a little experience of hosting Freelancer that can sell me a 50 or so slot server. I've been searching everywhere but can't find anywhere that does Freelancer. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good hosting service, or let me know who you host yours with. Ideally I'd like the host to be in the UK or Europe. Thanks:) Server host required - RonG777 - 08-02-2009 I believe Discovery has its own server . . . It isn't hosted by a company . . . I remember a few years ago, some hosting companies had hosting slots set up for Freelancer, but I'm sure This game isn't as popular compared to a Halo or a GTA version whatever . . . Have you sent emails to any of these hosting servers about what you want? Also, have you talked to anyone hosting a freelancer server about costs of owning your own compared to hiring a company to do it? I wish you the best of luck . . .:) Server host required - kindred - 08-02-2009 Freelancer is a old game with a small cult following, for that reason i doubt you will find an dedicated server hosts. You will have to rent a rack server and install the fl server there. Server host required - Discovery UK - 08-12-2009 You don't need to rent a rack to install the FL server, and running it from a leased line or SDSL is extremely expensive. I've been looking into new hosting options for the UK server, as I don't have enough bandwidth on my line to host UK. . . the next package up is more expensive than I can cover for one server. I looked into installing a machine at a datacenter, which is also quite expensive. You could look into dedicated server hosting, because I don't think a VPS would cut it personally, yet all the options are bound to be in excess of ?60/$100 a month I would imagine. |
