Shipyards Query: (Or any station really) - Kadaeux - 08-03-2009

All across Sirius, most notable the shipyards, I have come to notice that ALL the "drydocks" where they're made are the same. (Well actually I've known it forever) none of them have any Character or individuality. The Rheinland Shipyards look exactly the same as the Liberty ones, worse, the Rheinland ones can't even fit their battleship!

So the question is, CAN you replace individual drydocks like that one with a new model and would anyone be interested in new models for "faction specific" drydocks?

Well, stations are created by linking modular component models together to create what we see them as. Currently there is a community initiative to create new component models and use them, searching will yield these.

Short answer, yes we're interested.

God, yes. I get tired of seeing the same modules system after system.

Oy! Good topic. I've a ship FAR too big to fit the shipyard where it's at and there are times when i want it to sit there like its being repaired or what ever esle for RP. I am sure the people all over would love BIGGER ship yards too.

Is there one available in a 3dsMax format I could use for scaling?

You need Milkshape + CMP importer for that. You can find both in Frozens hitbox help package here:

It might take a little bit of exploring to find which file the shipyard module is. Milkshape will be able to export to a format readable by 3dsmax, but honestly, since you need to export your file to Milkshape to convert it to CMP anyway, you might as well build it first and scale it later.

Good point. (I usually just make the models and pass them to others to do the conversion work. (the DoW BFG Mod, SoaSE BFG Mod etc.))
EDIT: and thanks for the link.

Ok. I cooked up a ten minute "base" for a Rheinland Drydock (or more accurately, spacedock) Now this isn't a final submission obviously or anything even close to one. What I want is peoples ideas and advice about what I could do to improve upon the facility in a manner that fits Rheinland. And "images" you have for inspiration and the like would be appreciated etc as well.

So here is the Rheinland Class LCAF (Large Craft Assemby Facility) as a Work in Progress. I have designed it with the sheer bulk of the Rheinland battleship in mind.

I know it's still a work in progress -- but just a reminder to remember to include more house elements into the deisgn. Just the insignia won't be enough, you should be able to tell the shipyard is Rhienlandish before textures and stuff are applied.
