Freelancing with benefits? - Pagan - 08-05-2009

Hello all!

I haven't posted in this forum before and just had a quick question regarding the rules for v4.85. I hope this is the proper place to post this, but I need to clear this up immediately as I'm a bit confused.

I want to have a Freelancer ID as I'm lawful, but enjoy cruising around mostly by myself doing whatever I am interested in at the moment; whether it be missions, trading, exploring, mining, etc. The ship of choice for me is the Nephthys from The Order and I'm flying around with a Freelancer ID following the rules of that ID set. I'm not really into PvP at the moment and just like doing my own thing. Is this against the rules or do I *have* to join The Order cause I'm using one those ships and do I have to stay within their system? This is how I prefer to play as I'm a loner and don't want to be forced into playing in groups, but I got tired of the basic ships that wouldn't let me explore very far. Any clarification would be great as I don't want to get in trouble on the server.

Could you possibly point me in the right area to post this then? This board is a bit daunting with information.

Oops, I replied before I posted. :o So, what are my options then??

** I get a Recruit ID for The Order and join their faction as an inactive member to have the proper ID and stay in their systems?

** I buy a Manta instead with my Freelancer ID and cruise around in that fashion?

The problem is I spent all my credits on the ship and don't have enough to trade ships/ID's right now. Perhaps in another day or so, but I find all of this very confusing. I just want to cruise around by myself independently and do my own thing without bothering anyone. Perhaps that is how I wish to roleplay, so what are my options then?

//First, this should be relocated to the "rules" section...

Purchase an Order vessel with a Freelancer ID and you are disobeying the guidelines as described in http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p35...0upJbuLWZO7oTLg

Using the recruit ID on a permanent basis is also bad news.

My suggestion would be to go with the Manta, although the BHG might give you flak for it in-RP.

Well, this is really a great mod and I have been playing it for years and never had to join any faction. This sounds very limiting in what you can actually do and fly.

I guess my next question is, what ships can I actually fly with a Freelancer ID then? Do I just float around in space with a jetpack and throw rocks at enemies? LOL I'm just trying to clear this up cause it seems I can't do what I want with this mod.

Off the top of my head, for bombers the Roc and Havok are both freely useable. Possibly also the GMG Kaichou and the IMG Pytho.

And of course the Nepthys is a VHF...

There are several civvy VHFs, Eagle is the most commonly used.

Thanks for the leads and the time to respond. It will be some time before I earn enough credits for a bomber, but I prefer a very heavy fighter (VHF) anyway. I see in that chart that I can use a Manta with a Freelancer ID is I post a Bio/Story here in the forums. I should be able to come up with something to do that at least.

I believe before v4.85, I cruised around using a Freelancer ID and a Hammerhead and I had no problems before at all. Now I just need to come up with 2 million credits plus another 80K for *another* Freelancer ID after I just bought the Neph. *sigh* So far, this is a lot of work trying to figure this whole system out.

Buy a civilian ship . . . (most ships from a freeport may work) . .

Make sure you have civilian weapons . . .

This and a freelancer ID, with neutral or Zoner IFF, and I think you should be able to travel around almost anywhere without too many problems from other players . . .

:)
