Which ship? - Rajher - 09-03-2009

Hello, I am new to this server, mod and forum, and I just bought a pirate ID for my in-game char (also Rajher) because I reached level 40. I read all the rules, so i know there are a lot of restrictions for ship types a pirate can use, but i still have some questions before i really decide on which ship to fly.

1) Can a pilot with a pirate ID fly:

- Outcast and Corsair ships? (i know they are also pirates, but i read their ID descriptions and it says they are allowed to attack pirate ships as well, so i don't know if there is any restriction for them)

- Order ships? (seeing as they are working together with Corsairs?)

- Maquis-Council ships? (Maquis use the council ships, but are also pirates if i am not mistaken... if yes, could i use that ship outside Gallic space?)

- Civilian ships?

- Corporations ships (like Gaians, or GMG... or even Coalition ships)

2) If i can get a good RP "excuse" to fly a ship my ID is not for, can i fly said ship? (for me, it seem logical that if Bounty Hunters fight pirates, it shouldn't be possible that "some" pirate salvaged a BH's ship and is using it)

3) Should i buy a bomber, seeing as a lot of ships are Gunships, or very heavy traders? Would a bomber be a more effective pirating ship?

Ok thank you in advance for all the answers that will shed me some light on the ins and outs of this game, so i don't disturb the RP rules:D

1) For the ship/equpment rules, you can check out here :
http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=35887&hl=
and here
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p35...0upJbuLWZO7oTLg

2) If you want to fly "red" ship, you'd have to ask admins with yor special RP

3) bombers are just fine, unless you meet some VHF or another expirienced bomber. And ships like Trident can be pain in the a*se for a single bomber. It depends on what suits you better. You'll have to try it out:)

Edit>

we gaians are not a corporations please!:)Neither is coalition I think, but I'm not too familiar with Galia

You can use both Outcast and Corsair tech, but not at the same time. Order Tech, not so much. Order and Corsairs don't swap tech any more as far as I know. If you were to fly a Maquis/Council ship you would be restricted to Gallic space/equipment only. Civilian ships are fine to use, and Gaians aren't a corporation.
You would not be able to use Coalition ships.

As for the bomber, yes, Bombers are the best for piracy. But remember you can't fly a Barghest with a Pirate ID, you need a Liberty Rogue or Molly ID to use it.

@ Ritsuka

thanks for the links, I must have completely missed them when reading the server and RP rules (takes a couple of hours):)

@ Nighthawk

i see now, so specific ships also have restrictions

PS: i know gaians are not a corp... i just ment corps like other "minor factions + corps" in one word...;)

Well yes, some certain ships have restrictions, but they are mainy capitals. From small ships it's only Nyx (CR only) and Barghest (is that so? I've seen pirates in that brick). From trading ships, it's liners and then the Zoner train-whatever-thingy big ship (Zone Guard only). That's what I know from restrictions ...

Coalition is a player faction to whom you have to apply. You cannot use their ships if you aren't in SCRA.

Gallic ships cannot be used outside of Gallia (except Council can go to Taus).

Corsair Guard may use Order capital ships I believe, but in my opinion, don't get the Order ships...there are already too many of those around.

For special RP, you can post an application under the "Characters with Special RP" subforum. Admin will decide whether to allow you or not. Personally, I think you should be a little more active on the forums and ingame because I don't think the admins will give Special RP permissions to new players instantly.

Hope that helped.

What you need to do is think to yourself, "Who am I roleplaying as? Who would trust him with a ship? Who are his allies and his enemies?". If you are still a litle confused after that , go read up on the lore of the factions who you you are confused about. If you end up with a situation that would be deemed illegal acording to server rules , try to contact experienced players and figure out what is wrong. Perhaps you could even try to apply for a special ID ?

ok thank you... i decided that for starters i will just go with a ship that is "in the green" (on that table) for a normal pirate ID, seeing as im only 3 posts on the forum i woun't go into any special requests....
