Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Birdtalon - 09-05-2009 If you have played the Order before, Im sure you will all know about the "Capspam". This is something which has been bugging me for a while now. The Independant Capital Class Vessels are letting the order down bigtime. Gone are the times of capital restrictions, which I agree with. But when I log on and find capships in Minor being as much OORP as you can get i think there is a problem. [color=#FF0000]THIS NEEDS TO IMPROVE I will explain how, you don't need to be an RP god or spend endless time writing stories and such. You just need to put some thought into what you put in that "System:" box. 1. A Crew. All our ships have people inside of them, but think, wouldn't the Navigation Officer pause the Captain for a minute to suggest taking Course B instead of Course A? Wouldn't the Weaponary Officer be shouting to all the weapon's crews the moment danger was iminent? All you need to have is a few different people aboard. Remember, the moment you step into that big ship, there is no longer just one person driving like a fighter. On my Battleship Wyvern, I have several senior crew members, all who speak from time to time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have also done a short discription for each, not mammoth amounts. After reading this, don't think that we are forcing you to have 10 crew members and memorise all their names and such, far from it. 2. Speech. Even if you just start off with two crew members having a conversation. Like so. Foley: Alan, prepare the weapons Alan: On it sir. Alan: This is Lieutenant Jones, to all weaponary crew. Prepare for battle, load hard rounds, engage targeting. Foley: Good, we are all ready, take us in. Alan: I suggest aiming for their large side armour sir. Foley: Good idea Alan, broadcast to all stations. And so on and so on. You don't need massive amounts of roleplay to make your capships look like capships. If anything, at the bear minimum just use your fingers to type your Captain's name before the text you write. I am not talking about all of you, just the majority, and it shouldn't even be that. It should be a minority, I sure most people on this board would agree with me when I say "Most of the Capital Craft in the Order are crap" Come on guys, you are letting yourselves down and you are, to some extent, letting the order down. This needs to improve drasticly and It starts now. Birdy. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Tenacity - 09-05-2009 Good luck with this man, I've been trying to clean up the order capspam for months now with no progress whatsoever. And for the record, you dont 'have' to RP an entire crew to be a good capship RP'er. I rarely speak for any crew aboard my ship other than the commander herself, especially not in combat when I dont have nearly as much time to type out that kind of thing - still, I have no problems convincing people that they're dealing with a fully crewed capship and not a lolwutter. Then again, I've had Order caps since before Black Squadron changed to Order|. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Birdtalon - 09-05-2009 Addition one: Take some inspiration from the "Good RPers" amoung the Order craft. Some I can note now: Rand Seith's Order|Deviator Jack Osborne's Order|Kheops Chris Dangen's Order|Anubis Tenacity's Carrier Bastet Rhys.Filmore Any of the 748- Tagged capships. and my Battleship Wyvern. Sorry if you do good rp and I missed you out, its off the top of my head. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Violette - 09-05-2009 /agree Indies, perk the hell up and show some damn skillz in this house! Little bit too 'street' there but yeah, I get you. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Weedalot - 09-05-2009 i hope those people will read it..just last night an osiris was hunting a junker in a transport..he attacked his trader so it seems. I must admit it was FUNNY seeing that mortar going after that slave liner.. I was on my Corsair char right there having my laugh. Too many Caps .. There might be a place for a new system dividing Alaska and Minor.. Somewhere for caps to go release their frustration at each other by PEW PEW means a " No fighter allowed system":P Basically your intention is great.. But i believe most caps that cause trouble and dont follow RP are not on the forums or just joined due to recent sanction;) Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Tenacity - 09-05-2009 Also, reading this will probably help you get off the path of lolwutting: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45818 And add Rhys.Filmore and any of the 748- Tagged capships to the list, he's a great cap RP'er, and he's been around for a pretty long time - not as long as me, I recruited him into the Order way back during 4.84, but still a long time =P Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Violette - 09-05-2009 I heard rumours of a group of newbies, three of em. Getting an Osiris and 2 Cruisers as a gang... This is the example of capwhoring, seriously, the Order bombers aren't THAT bad... Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Tenacity - 09-05-2009 Order bombers? What Order bombers? To be perfectly honest, I've seen more carriers flying under the order flag in the past week than I've seen fighters or bombers combined... and that's not something I'm proud to say. Yes, I have a carrier - but look at what I've done to earn it... I had RP posted months before the ship was even added to the game, regarding it's design and construction. I've had RP through two entire crews for the ship, and I've been in the Order as a fairly high ranking player for longer than just about anyone else still playing on the server. Rand has been here longer than I, so has Eternal and Stew and Swiss, but those aside I think I'm one of the longest played Order characters left on the server. It frustrates me to no end to compare all the work I've done, all the effort I've put into the game, in order to justify my ship, when these other players come around, powertrade for a week, never post a drop of RP on the forums, and buy a carrier just so they can go lolwutting around Sirius with it, or sit in Minor and shoot mortars at each other all day long. If I'd have known the spam was going to be this bad, I would have saved up for an osiris instead. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - reavengitair - 09-05-2009 So... I am a lolwutter because I don't have these? Meh, I'll do them when I feel like going on my orders again. Attention: Order Capital Class ships. - Tenacity - 09-05-2009 I just dont RP my crew, you dont have to do the whole inter-crew speech in order to RP a capship successfully. If anything, doing so is out of character, since in reality your nav officer and helmsman and such are not permitted to speak on communications to outside sources - that's the job of the comm officer or commanding officer respectively. I take a more submarine-like command when RP'ing my carrier. If I want to say something regarding the ship's internal actions or crew, it's usually directed at the "Con" (i.e. "control"), which will be whatever officer I'm needing at the time. Other than that, everything I say is coming from the commander of my ship - my crew doesnt get to talk to you, they arent authorized. As an example, I might say something like: "Con, scramble fighter squadrons and get the turrets active." - That would be my commander telling the control officer to get the fighters out into space and prepare for a fight. I dont have to go through the hassle of going "Staite: Scramble fighter squadrons and get the turrets active." ... "Control: Yes Ma'am, fighters away." Sure, it may sound better the latter way, but it's a lot of extra typing, and that's generally not something I'm going to put effort into when I'm being shot at. As far as forum RP goes, yes, I fully RP the various members of my crew, because I usually dont have to deal with the threats that are ever-present on the server. Still, my crew changes so much I can never keep track of names =P |
