Unofficial Faction - The People's Voice - JakeSG - 09-06-2009 The People's Voice
IntroductionFor years, many of us have fought alone. Unsure of who could be trusted, afraid of having our identities revealed, never truly knowing how many shared our cause. Well no more. Men and women, from mere children to those so old and arthritic they cannot leave their homes, they have fought on many fronts to see the through the true potential of Liberty. My brothers... My sisters... My friends, many of you who hear this will have tried to take a more active stance at one point or another to defend our ideal that is Liberty, but for whatever reason were not able to work towards that goal. I offer you now a chance once more, to defend the innocent people of Liberty from the evil that befalls it. Liberty is plagued with injustice. Deluded fools who've misconceived wrongs against themselves and blamed the very House that is their own, turning to terrorism for personal gain, slaughtering innocents to end 'Corporate corruption'. There are underground drug lords, the Rogues, peddling the filthy drug 'Cardamine' to our young and naive, spreading its corruptive influence throughout our home. Behind their backs sit the Outcasts, who sit in their lavish palaces on Malta, laughing at our inaction and reaping the benefits of their ill-gain, sending raiding parties and pirates to Liberty as what one can only imagine is some kind of perverted 'Right of Passage'. Liberty itself is defended by many fine men and women, but while the Navy works hard to keep the fascist Rheinland invaders at bay, and the Liberty Police are taxing their prisons to bursting point, bringing the near innumerable criminals to justice, they cannot always be near to catch them in the act. Sometimes, there is simply too much to be done. Sometimes there are simply too many obstacles. This is where we, the People of Liberty have the advantage. We are the very foundations of Liberty, we are more numerous and more powerful than any petty crime lord. We do not need to fear the media, as our self-sacrifice in the defence of the people will be glorified and make us martyrs for our very cause. Brothers, sisters, my family, I say this. To win back the House that is rightfully ours, to see the fugitives brought to light, placed in a position where they can do no more harm, we must take up arms and bring the fight where the law cannot. People of Liberty, we need not be alone. Timeline of Important Events All years are in A.S. 738 - Lane Hackers formed from ex-Ageiran employees. Piracy in Liberty rises steadily. Cardamine declared illegal within Liberty. 741 - An upper class ex-Ageiran employee by the name of 'John Mitchells' who joined with the original wave of Lane Hackers schisms off due to a disapproval of the innocent lives harmed in the efforts. Establishes a small group of vigilantes known as the 'People's Militia' in an effort to combat the Lane Hackers. 743 - John Mitchells found dead in his home, shot. Believed to be an assassination by the Lane Hackers. Martyred by the media, resulting in several sizable 'donations' and a high public support rating, and titled within his movement the 'Founding father of the People'. 744 - The People's Militia begins to suffer an internal collapse without a leader. Many members lose sight of their ideals and turn to darker activities. 747 - Adam Brown, an ex-Navy officer and religious devout dismissed due to an unknown act of disgrace, manages to seize control of the People's Militia and bring them back to the cause. Implements religious aspects into the operations of the Militia as a method of conveying their message and keeping the people true to the path. 754 - Adam Brown found murdered in a chapel confessional. Media claims attack was based religious dispute with an opposing religion. Adam's right hand man Deryk Ashcroft takes over and establishes the anonymous 'call-sign' naming system. Employs the first 'Speaker' as a decoy. 767 - Charlie Henderson, a Xeno, is intrigued by the speeches of the Militia movement. Leaves the Xeno, throwing away his views against the Corporations and sides with the Militia. Within two years, he is serving as the Speaker. 770 - Presumed year of death of Deryk. Henderson takes over and establishes basic relations with some of the less extremist Xeno sects using his past contacts. Xeno, while more extreme in their methods allow for an ally when a common foe is concerned, particularly against the increasing presence of Outcasts within Liberty. Much of the leadership changes after this point are difficult to pinpoint due to the efforts of the leadership to remain anonymous. 793 - Presumed to be the last change of leader of the 8th century. Previous one believed imprisoned after an LSF raid. Much of the limited equipment available was also seized, resulting in extreme pressure upon their few pilots. 795 - Faced with economic hardship, a lack of equipment and weaponry, negative coverage by the media and a series of arrests upon key members, the leader of the Militia effectively grounds the People, returning them to street vigilantism. Whilst some members objected, it is effective in removing the unwanted attention. 796 - The return to street vigilantism allows for members to put more focus on their careers. The more loyal members begin to stockpile credits in the hope of a return to action. 800 - Nomad War begins. Many of the remaining skilled pilots enlist in the Navy or LSF in the face of their desperation for more recruits. 801 - The Nomad's attempt to take over Sirius is foiled by the Order with assistance from Edison Trent. Nomad war ends and many younger pilots are released from service with no skills other than those learned in battle. A few survivors of the Militia prior to the war rejoin the cause, some bringing friends from the aforementioned category. 811 - James Powell wins the elections in Liberty and becomes President. 813 - Outcasts begin looking for new allies across Sirius. The Liberty Rogues, Mollys and Golden Chrysanthemums sign the treaty. Number of Outcasts rise once more. 816 - Final internal struggle. New leader unknown. 817 - Present day. The war between Liberty and Rheinland begins. The attention of the Navy and LSF is once more diverted from the people of Liberty. In the face of this and the presence of the Outcast Alliance, the current leader reforms the People's Militia under a new name, the 'People's Voice', symbolising the Militia's belief that they are the voice of the 'outraged civilians'. The leader titles himself 'The Voice' and employs the 'Speaker', once a decoy, as his hand. Allows the People's Voice to return to the skies, preaching of the utopian ideals of Liberty. Many civilians, even ex-criminals, show their support for the cause. Objectives Primary Objectives:

---------------------- Weehee... Wall of text makes me dizzy :/ Some may have seen us around, but we havn't been particularly active in the last two weeks. I blame Australian internets for my side of that, not sure about the others. I have the basics for a possible event and future relations planned out in my head, but for now I'll see where this goes. Unofficial Faction - The People's Voice - Zelot - 09-06-2009 I like it, although you may want to open your ship list up in terms of when people can fly them, I would allow the Griffin for everyone at least. Unofficial Faction - The People's Voice - JakeSG - 09-06-2009 As it is, everyone who isn't in the trial phase is allowed to use them. The ship restrictions is largely affected by the limited ships we can use. |
