Why is everyone fighting like terrorists lately? Terrorists fight for their lives and risk their lives to fight. Sane folk fight because they have to and should value their lives alot higher.

So without further ranting.

Why don't you guys try retreating for once?

Have a happier ending.

Whatcha talkin' bout ? I always leg it. Except with my terrorist-ish character. Then I fight till the death.

This thread raises the question of why the Molly ID isn't a "terrorist ID" like the Gaian one.

I already do, as anyone who tries to catch Rex.Mullins soon finds out. Well, it's more of a 'run away screaming "eeeeeeek!"' than a retreat, but the effect is the same.

Now that you mention it, there was this BHG Orca in '37 who ran away. He said I'd remember his name, but I've honestly forgotten.

The problem is the rules. Retreating is death for your charcter. If you retreat, you're expected to log off, leave system, etc. So its basically the same end as being blown up, which (nearly) no one actually consider's their charcter's death...so after they get blown up, they RP running away, in a lifeboat.

I've a train (3k version) which I pay lane and gate taxes, and station fees. I expect any destuction of the ship would kill nearly half the crew (there's 40 some people in crew, all fammilial, a handful of whom are children. active crew is 8 people at all times.) Its a vastly different, and I think, more realistic, experience. They're just barely staying solvent, only because sometimes they throw in a high -high- profit route, which helps them pay off their debts from other routes. Pirates are a threat to the existance of their ship, and their entire family. They're not messed around with, etc.

Even though I play that way occasionally, and I wish the game were more like it, I cannot say I expect the change. It is, quite frankly, far to hard.

Permadeath gets my vote.

When my caps get blown up I RP it as running away with heavy damage =P

Retreat! - Sprolf - 09-15-2009

When my caps get blown up, that's when I play the game.

(But really, you can never completely destroy a battleship. That would take way too much time and firepower. Most anyone could do is depressurize some decks and cripple the thing, maybe blow a chunk out of it. They're tough cookies. So in RP, they get field repaired and limp back to drydock, or get towed back to drydock, then they get completely repaired. I've had a lot of time to think about how my ships can still exist.)

I always cheese it if I can. It happens more than you think. I was in a fight involving some CR, Outcasts and such earlier. People from both sides fled rather than died.
