Ok, I've bought it! - Bear - 09-19-2009

I'm pretty sure everyone has read this now but in case you haven't here is the run down.
I wanna make a research char and base him in a Slave Liner because it will fit the deep space research aspect of it (discussed below).

Now I want to know how I should mark the research vessel. I have a name for it (White-Bear) but I'm at a loss on how to designate it.I was thinking along the lines of RV-White.Bear, [RV]-White-Bear or something along those lines. note that the RV stands for Research Vessel. any suggestions on this?

This should be possible... but do you think there are the neccessary scientifical equipments within a Slave Liner, which is designed to carry slaves?

Its a little OORP to be in a SLAVE liner, in my opinion.

But that depends on what type of researcher you are.

You could be researching into slaves? Or researching sex... erm... nevermind.

but for now - i'd suggest a different liner...

I dont think a researcher would use a slave liner or a Prison liner try to use something else

My character can have it fitted out. Considering he's a billionaire an all

I will be researching whatever comes to my mind at the time. I was thinking of this liner because on the info card it states that before all of this Jump Gate and Trade Lane tech they had these for exploration ergo perfect for a researcher char.

I don't want to buy a Luxury Liner and the prison Liner looks stupid, therefore I'd like the Slave Liner. It looks perfect for deep space exploration.

Well, than it leaves him a Luxury liner or Royal liner, which, by their very nature, are ill equipped for that. I think that your best bet would be a Prison liner. You aren't really trading, so you don't need that much space, and besides, it's info card states that it is a converted Luxury liner or purpose built vessel. So, it could be some sort of workhorse vessel, so why not a flying lab? I know I'm using one for W/Y Lab.. No objections so far..

You make a good point about the prison liner though it doesn't look like it would fit in in deep space if you know what I mean. Also, part of the time I will trading as I only ever have one character. The Slave Liner also has more weapons (although I'll still die) and it just fits better in my opinion.

Well, Slave liner, or Pilgrim, is supposed to be an ancient deep space exploration vessel... a rugged design, meant to function for years without any logistical support... enormous endurance and fortitude, it seems. So, if you want to fly around deep space, and that's your role play, yes, you should grab a Pilgrim... if you want to RP a Corporate lab (As I do) then maybe something with a more recent construction date would be more appropriate... also, with trading on a Researcher ID, be carefull what you trade with, or you might hook some sort of sanction or accusation for powerplay or whatever... anyhow, hope to see you around in space in your shiny (or, well... very scratched) new exploration vessel!

Thanks mate, I know all about the restrictions on what researchers can trade with (written on the ID). Also, it's not going to be a corporate lab, more of a home/research station/trading vessel. These three things have been put into importance levels. So it's my characters home, his job and his on the side money making ship (if any of this makes any sense at all).

EDIT: If any of you have a problem with me using this vessel for what I intend please post your complaints here so that I can address them.
