PvP Tips for RP addicts - Angelfire - 10-03-2009 ...like me. I suck at PvP... I suck baaaaad! What are the pros and cons of various ship and weapons classes? Why should I dump my LF for an HF? Why do my own mines chase me around sirius? If I hit you with a shield buster missile then a hull buster, does it actually bust your hull? Jousting tips. Missile evasion tips. When to use bats and bots effectively. Whatever else you can think of. Bring on those tips folks.. Plenty of us PvP virgins out here! PvP Tips for RP addicts - Tomtomrawr - 10-03-2009 ' Wrote:...like me.I'll answer as many as I can. LFs are built for agility and speed, HFs are kinda the same. VHFs and bombers are heavy hitters, they're designed for damage and not agility. Having weapons with the same projectile speeds is a BIG BIG help, means you can have all your guns hitting your target instead of just one or two. Remember, PROJECTILE SPEED, NOT REFIRE SPEED. Refire speed is also a big deal, but you can mix and match them. Just make sure they have the same, or very similar projectile speeds. If you have crap aim, go for guns with faster refire speeds. I wouldn't dump a LF for a HF, unless you have terrible aim and the LF is too speedy for you to aim. The LF is built for agility and speed, not as a heavy hitter. If you want a heavy hitter that you can spend time aiming with, use HFs, VHFs, or bombers. Your own mines chase you probably because you're dropping them like there's no tomorrow. I suggest timing your mine dropping appropriately. Maybe 300m from the enemy, or maybe 10m from the enemy, just between that gap. Or maybe 0m if you're feeling risky. It actually takes a second for the shield to be registered as down, so if you hit someone with a shield and hull buster at the same time I doubt it will do any hull damage. If it does hull damage, then there was enough time for the shield to be registered as down and for the hull to be damaged. Some useful jousting tips now. I strongly recommend against jousting bombers all the way, turn away a few hundred metres before so they can't simultaneously shield bust and SNAC with enough of a delay for the shield to be registered as down and for the hull to be damaged. A CD is your best friend against missile and mine spammers. And they can help set off your mines at appropriate times, very useful in a fight. Timing is critical. Firing your SNAC at enemies at wrong times, or releasing mines at wrong times, could cost you dearly. Always time things to the best of your ability. A CD is also your best friend against missile spammers (like me). When you see one coming towards you, just swing a CD in their direction and laugh as it blows in their face. Or if they're firing a Nova torp, very amusing indeed. Only fire missiles when the cursor starts spinning, it means you have a much better chance of hitting them. Could be the same with mines, meaning the mine has locked onto them. Bots and bats now. Use them when you feel you need them. Raising your shield the first few times it gets knocked down is NOT a good idea. Conserve your bots and bats for as long as you can, but if you feel you can't survive without using them, then for god sake use them. And don't go flying around with a tiny scratch of hull left when you have a full compliment of bots, USE THEM THEN! I hope I've been helpful. PvP Tips for RP addicts - Benjamin - 10-03-2009 I'm not great, and I'm definitely still learning. But for me, basically in general, first came dodging and avoiding fire/explosives. Learn how to stay alive, and then the option to kill people slowly becomes available! Map up and down strafing if you haven't already, somewhere where you can spam them. You essentially always want to be strafing, and throwing up and down in there increases your movements by 100%, and for some ships (i.e. flat ships) it's much better to go up and down than side to side. I also find it harder to fan my shots vertically rather than horizontally. Bats bots... Don't wait too long basically. If you can get away with out batting, then go for it, but if you're going to pull a U-Turn with a guy behind you, bat or you'll eat something. Bots, just don't wait too long. Once you're at the stage where a nuke/razor can kill you in one, you should have already botted. Anyway, the other stuff I'll wait for someone who's actually good at PvP PvP Tips for RP addicts - reavengitair - 10-03-2009 You think I'm bad, I'm the worst. However, I can say that LFs pwn more than HFs, especially against bombers (which people seem to be using more and more nowadays) PvP Tips for RP addicts - Warlord - 10-03-2009 You can get tips as much as you'd like, but real combat experience is what truly matters. I'm flying a Eagle VHF in the [*USI*] using 5 Magma Hammers and 1 Deb, which means I don't use any missiles! But fine heres a tip for you, Don't put your CD, CM or Mines on Green (Auto) Also don't even think about using mines if you did not mastered your fighting skills yet. All I have to say for now. |
