COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - chovynz - 10-05-2009 I have seen yet another thread where people whine about <small annoying whiney voice> "this is OORP" "that is OORP" "They aren't allowed to do thaaaaaaat" "this isn't faaaaaaaaaaiiiirrrrr" </end of small annoying whiney voice> Grow up children. First common sense RULE: Take it at face value. IF YOU think it's "OORP" Ask questions instead of demanding your own way. OPEN your eyes to the possibilities of RolePLAY instead of limiting yourself and others to the deadness of your limited vision. Find out what the FACTS are instead of assuming. You make yourself look like an idiot if you "wine" before research. Remember that in the big scheme of Disco, you and your characters are actually just part of the machine. You're not a superman. You're not a god. You are not Edison Trent, who saved the universe - again - (the crowd cheers). (Most of you are not a even a developer and have no desire to input into the mod like that.) You are just Joe Average, with an Average haircut, with an Average Defender. You are not the be all and end all of what Disco is about. Pull your head out of your bottoms and get some fresh air, people. To label someone as "OORP" dismisses their roleplay, it dismisses their effort, and it dismisses any possibility of you enjoying their company. To call something OORP without getting your facts, is stupid. Stop it. See how you can MAKE it in rp. This also is about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY. If they go out of their character, does that mean you have to? No. WHEN YOU RULE LAWYER, you break the fourth wall, the IN ROLEPLAY immersion YOURSELF. Whining begats whining. If someone goes out of roleplay, then you STAY IN roleplay. Don't blame others for your own mistakes. That is called hypocrisy. Don't want to be a hypocrite? Don't break Roleplay to tell someone else that they are "OORP". Doesn't matter what they are doing. YOU don't do it. If this shoe fits you, take it. If not. Don't. Most of all, if someone does something ingame that upsets you, USE ROLEPLAY to get back at them. Use the bounty system. That's what it is there for. Use the Diplomatic channels. End of rant about a yet again another thing that COULD be solved if people would THINK and extend some basic rules about playing a game. COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - chovynz - 10-05-2009 On that note it looks like it might be a good time for me to have a break from Disco (or at least the forums) for awhile. See you.:) COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - Bass_masta992 - 10-05-2009 Join me! Together we shall begin new lives until we get incredibly bored and wind up here! Aww man, who will I harass with questions about Wiki?? Just kidding, have a good one. ;) COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - Navycross28 - 10-05-2009 So let me get this straight, common sense says that it would be possible to pirate slavers in an Order capital ship with a Zoner Guard IFF in like Baffin with the blessings of the [TAZ] IF you have a very good story write up on it? Wait why do I feel a chill going down my back? *Screems while being dragged to hell by Dusty_Lens* COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - chovynz - 10-05-2009 ' Wrote:So let me get this straight, common sense says that it would be possible to pirate slavers in an Order capital ship with a Zoner Guard IFF in like Baffin with the blessings of the [TAZ] IF you have a very good story write up on it?Common sense says "Don't wind down the windows in space". COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - Canadianguy - 10-05-2009 Common sense my mister EvilSpock mean you will accept RP that can seem even a little bit correct. That means. A corporate guy can have reasons to smuggle if he want. OC can go in liberty with their caps if they want. Etc. Ya know, OORP can be said as something simple: having loadouts that make absolutely no sense, like corsair IDed sabre. Talking in OOC. Or doing stuff that really, really make no sense (I am not having an idea of something that cant be RPed at all.) COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - looqas - 10-05-2009 Those who have ears let them hear. But I think this is a just drop in the ocean. Only thing I've seen help somewhat has been role playing regardless of the other going for a full oorp-jig. That way you still retain your fun. COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - Canadianguy - 10-05-2009 ' Wrote:Those who have ears let them hear. This here is the example of what to do. Still, I will quote someone (I forgot who) that said: Everyone is RP 'till proven otherwise, not the other way around. COMMON SENSE NOTICE: - atlantis2112 - 10-05-2009 Quote:IF YOU think it's "OORP" I think I can safely say when a smuggler trying to run through Vespucci claiming I can't touch him turns around as ordered, and says "Man you role players are annoying", that that is OORP. Nice rant though. |
