New pirating style idea - Corsair - 10-10-2009
So, I was forum hopping and thought of an interesting new way to pirate. You are in a freighter (at least) filled to the brim with nasty pirates. You jump a lane, and storm the transport. You ransom the crew for their lives. Now, if military or police comes along, they can't blow you up because now you've got civilians on board.
This would require both the pirate and the transport to coordinate accordingly, as well as the "Omg red outcast die die die" kind of military to not come across you.
I tried this with a certain trader (took me about 3 hours to get my Dromedary and LR rep) and this is what happened.
Me: ~Sees target, lane kills~
Target: Oh damn.
Me: Alright, scum. You're going to kill your engines, now! (We're not nice pirates. I never am.)
Target: Fine, fine. Just don't shoot us.
Me: ~I fly over, and perch on the roof~ Open your boarding hatch!
Target: Okay, Okay. We're opening up the docking terminus. Hold on.
Me: We're boarding the ship! Alright, men! Secure the area!
Me: Tie them up and bring them on board! I want to talk with the captain!
Target: Agh, fine. Fine. What do you want?
Me: Well, you realize the slave market is booming right now. Malta needs more Cardamine harvesters, since they keep dying. Do you want your crew to have that fate?
Target: No, I don't. Don't sell us into slavery, please! We'll pay for our release!
~LNS enters the scene~
LNS: What the hell is this?
Me: Stand back, stiff! This is a hostage situation! You want these guys back alive? Then you're going to have to pay for their safety!
LNS: We don't negotiate with terrorists.
Me: Well, then stiff, you're going to have to watch them die!
Target: ~Roleplaying now a pirate at the comms. Great job, dude.~ Hahaha! This ship is loaded! Captain, their cargo is worth a fortune! We can retire with this!
Me: Great, great! Then we don't need-HIM.
Me: Ah, well, that's one down.
LNS: Stop! Don't kill another one. I've called in a transport to pick up the crew. You'll be paid your ransom.
And things wound down after that. I flew away with the transport to the next system, hid in a scrap field, and congratulated one another. After that, I saw an LSF fighter come to me and place me under arrest. I complied, and went to the Sugarland for detainment.
Well, that ended with lots of laughs, and a great feeling of roleplay. We need to bring life to piracy, because it is now the most abused career in the game.

Haha, I was actually thinking the other day of a couple of pirates taking a ship hostage, flying into NY with him and demanding payment from LPI or else they would destroy the ship and its crew. I wish I would come across enough good RPers in a row to pull what you did off though.

id of had said transport loaded with a covert rescue team my charcter dosent negoacate with criminals and can effectivly mostly talk people down(some just use hostage situation go get pew pew fix)they cry "I HHAZ 50 NAVY NAO PAY ME and gank the person and his helpersthen kill the hostage

i actually rp boarding player's ship and taking the goods.
for randsom.. well, i dont want to spend so much time on 1 trader.

Boarding can work pretty well, depending on how much the pirate needs to powerplay things. Killing random members of crew might not be good depending on how well fleshed out the trader's rp is...
But I've had BAF boarding Lux liner (Do that more btw, was great:)), wilde boarding a prison liner, and pirates boarding the Perth many times through the year or so I've had it. Always a good time, if the give/take between the trader/boarders is good enough.

It was pretty epic. Now, granted, if you boarded MY Lux Liner and killed people, I would NOT be pleased, because I have about 5 personas that I actively roleplay while on the one vessel.
