So I've been thinking... - Seth Karlo - 10-11-2009

I was wondering why I left Disco, and one of the reasons was I had to do a lot of trading for very little uses of my fighters.

So I was thinking, why don't Official Factions get given a set amount of money per week from the admins? They can then use this money to employ their members, allowing them to restock their fighters etc etc without having to transfer money from a trader (Which is kinda ooRP when you think about it)

Thoughts?

Well, usually, the trading members should support the faction, sustain their escorts and make the profit to pay the bills. In Vanilla, even the police roamed around in Armored Transports with like 999999999 units of cargo.
Of course that doesn't work all the time. Most faction players either keep their profits for themselves (trading factions like Bowex, USI, ect...) or don't trade at all (Police, Navy). Faction banks are kept full by dedicated members who donate money from their trader chars or faction traders. I don't know which factions (if any) demand members to pay a monthly/weekly 'tax' to their faction bank.
If factions got money from the Admins, players would simply stop donating money to their factions bank since 'its no longer necessary'
It would however, probably be worth a try.

What I do agree with is that corporate escorts should be sustained by the faction, not the player, especially if the respective player doesn't have a transport in said faction.

It could be explained with the NPCs trading in the 'rushhour' (low player count times) but then please give Shires, Mastodons, Mammoths, Big Dragons, ect to the NPCs:)
Anyway, what amount of monthly cash are we talking about?

Well, I would say factions like the [LN] would give their pilots maybe 5 mill a week? I'm not sure, maybe it would be related to your rank?

I fully support this idea. From experience, spending hours power-trading to support a faction bank would be better spent in other areas.

I'm no for this. I like the salary idea!

But how much does it cost you to repair your ships?

I can do one trip and make enough for myself for a long time....

Problem is that some factions have many new members a week and have to pay for their ship set ups and all.

I think this idea is fine, only if the admins agree to donate their own money of course. If not, then I'd be against it (it is after all their money. not ours, we can't tell other what to do with their cash.

True, but I think it's a good idea to discuss

A) Salary of an already sustained player

B) How much a new player can expect to receive.

Since, everything here is subjective so far...
