So, it's come to my knowledge that the cloud containing the nomad gate is full of, well, Iridium. This is ridiculously unbalanced and is creating a ludicrous influx of miners into the system, many of whom are not too bright. Come on people, this is a system people are supposed to be -afraid- of, so why the hell is there Iridium there?

As the leader of the ]NTF[, who are currently basing themselves out of the junction wreck in Kansas, I am not amused, but this isn't about me. What about the Keepers? They're having a hard enough time keeping morons out of the gate as it is, and this is only attracting more attention.

Iridium - Drake - 10-14-2009

It's not unbalanced... It's probably one of the few relatively balanced mining spots currently in the game. Single miners make money significantly slower than traders, and though groups may work better they still probably don't equal the same profits as they would if that same group just flew a trade convoy.

Also, I wasn't aware of anything about anyone being 'afraid' of Kansas. One of the planets is even slated for surveys and such things. And it's not exactly a scary looking system, lacks any radiation or other natural hazards, etc.

I also wasn't aware that the Keepers were attempting to keep people out of the gate. Unlike places like Iota, the system beyond that gate is intended for people other than nomads to see (though I imagine that in-RP the Keepers see it differently). The miners aren't really the problem there anyway, since they can't even use said gate.

There is a selling location two jumps away that will net you 19 million from a 5k transport. That's from a single run.

Still think it's balanced?

Iridium - Ash - 10-14-2009

Sending a 5k transport into Mining isn't what I consider roleplay.

Iridium - Taneru - 10-14-2009

Hardly any of the miners we run into in Kansas are looking for roleplay.

Iridium - Boss - 10-14-2009

Actually, I was unaware that it was being used for this purpose. Will discuss.

Well *shrug* do something about it. The asteroid field is a great place to mine, as Drake said, it's balanced as it is. Perhaps persuing the problem of 5k Transport mining as opposed to the Source itself would be more productive?

Try launching a Rogue GB out of Fortaleza and blowing the place half to hell. I would understand. There's easier ways to solve problems than bringing it to the Admins attention.

Actually, I ran into a miner who was mining right outside the gate. When I ordered them to stop they used the gate to jump through and escape, without a word. So they can use it, and some are already aware of it.

Folks, one person is upset so the wheel is squeeking,

Did anyone consider how long it takes to fill the 5k tranport

The ore rate is low and the drop rate is low, so take a miner and a 5k while the miner is mining and the 5k drops off the miner is still hacking away at it, it takes about 20 some minutes to fill a 5k worth of ore in that spot, no easy task, then the transportation time it takes. Then divide the profits, each player is making about 9.5mill per 20 to 25 minutes, thats the average to a good tranport run. Really, relax.

There are some players that are upset due to more activity in Kansas, and they dont like it.

Edit: In addition, there is no rule for miners not to mine their. No one owns the system. Its not breaking rp and its certainly not ooc or oorp.

Edit2: So, why is miners in Kansas the big crime at the moment, what seems to be the capital crime here. *chuckles* I mean I would really like to know. There are only two places to mine Irid, Delta and Kansas, They pay 2000 credits per irid ore and its in the same system, so why is there no stink about that, is it just because miners are in Kansas?
