XP Home & Pro - Fletcher - 10-14-2009 Hey folks, in the middle of downloading XP Pro SP3 from my college MSDN Alliance thing. What is the main difference in reliability and compatibility with Pro? I hear its a little less able to play games. But next week, I shall burn a copy of Windows 7. Until then, XP Pro will suffice since I've got 2 days ledt on this XP Home. Windows XP Home Edition. You have served me VERY VERY well over the years. I will find another copy!! EDIT: Ok in glorious Microsoft fashion, the install will not copy some various .sys files. May have to re-download, but I'm downloading Windows 7 now. Seeing if I can upgrade on the fly. 2.2 Gb download though... XP Home & Pro - n1kodemus - 10-14-2009 Windows XP Professional is the best OS after Windows 7. It shouldn't be less stable than the Home version. I haven't ever tried it, though. XP Home & Pro - Turkish - 10-14-2009 Stumbles his way in. Here and here. XP Home & Pro - SilentAssassin82 - 10-14-2009 As far as i know, service pack 3 makes them all the same. XP Home & Pro - Fletcher - 10-14-2009 Ok, downloaded Windows 7, backing most of my files I need onto my old computer via the network. Hopefully within 2 to 4 hours, I shall be speaking to you with the power of Windows 7. If not, I'll be back on my old PC that smells of fags and ash thanks to my eBay mother. EDIT: I'm installing Windows 7 Professional from the hard drive, I don't have a working DVD-RW burner, I was conned into buying a DVD-RAM burner, nowhere on the box does it say it can't burn DVD-RW's. Very annoying. XP Home & Pro - Malcolm_Reynalds - 10-15-2009 The only major difference is that Home Edition cannot join a network domain. XP Home & Pro - X-Lancer - 10-15-2009 and Vista home doesnt have gpedit.msc, so i assume XP home wont have it too, but according to "Law of MS", all version sucks except the one at the highest level. which is Professional version. |
