Noob question on NPC ship drops - dilbertland - 05-11-2007
I'm still a noob (only lvl 20) and new to this particular mod. Even though I'm still a very low level I don't think I've looted any ship compents (other than weapons) from battles. Do shield generators, scanners, etc. ever drop on this mod? Or, is it only weapons? Or, is it only at higher levels? Just wondering if I should always expect to have to buy them....

Peripheries do not drop in htis mod (armour upgrades come from a few wrecks guarded by greedy nomads:lol:).
It is, to my knowledge, just weapons and the general loot, no shields or any other peripheries...
I think you will have to keep buying them for the time being:P.

Thanks, I was really beginning to wonder. I guess I was so used to everything dropping that I didn't pay much attention to what was for sale at the vendors in the lower areas.:) (time for me to stop being lazy)

Shield generators and armor items are destroyed when you destroy a ship. That's why you won't ever see them looted. Scanner is also internal equipment... weapons, however, are external and might survive ship explosion.

Same goes for other equipment which bolts onto the outside of your ship -- thruster, CM dropper, mine dropper, etc.

They will drop like normal. But the NPC's have been changed so they use them. If you don't kill them quickly enough, they will use them up before you destroy them. If they are used up, they can't be droped.
