Trade Lane Disruption - Fletcher - 10-21-2009 So, a pirate disrupts a lane, and as soon as the trader falls off the lane, is it legal for the trader to fire with no warning? Is trade lane disruptions considered an attack? I've heard of a lot of traders fire with no warning upon dropping out of the lanes. Trade Lane Disruption - underd0g - 10-21-2009 No. If the trader starts shooting, without any RP, and lowers the pirates shield more than 50% he/she is breaking the following rule: Quote:5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking. Trade Lane Disruption - CzeReptile - 10-21-2009 I dont think that eager waiting for my shields to drop is really what pirates do. Id fire back and keep his shields over 50%, if he drops mine I blast him Trade Lane Disruption - Barrier - 10-21-2009 Quote:So, a pirate disrupts a lane, and as soon as the trader falls off the lane, is it legal for the trader to fire with no warning? To answer your questions - no and no. As a trader, I would wait a few seconds for a demand, and if none comes I would be on my way. Now, if I think I'm capable of taking the pirate out, I would demand an explanation for the lane disruption. If offered none, I would probably fire a few warning shots and be on my way. Trade Lane Disruption - Cris - 10-21-2009 The same as Crucial_Mistake. If the pirate is in a fighter class I usually ask for an explanation, fire a few rounds and cruise away... Except for the last night were 2 behemoths and my tanker pwned a corsair gunboat who engaged us without notice... Back to topic, I never thought it was an engagement since he techinaclly is shooting the lane, not you. Trade Lane Disruption - Fletcher - 10-21-2009 I ask this because the cruise disruption was sketchy a while back, but got cleared up. But this is also in the boundaries of disruption. I'm just generally curious as per norm. Trade Lane Disruption - cmfalconer - 10-21-2009 It's not an actual disruption, nor an attack per-say. The offending pirate hasn't shot anything at your actual ship. Problem with this is some pirates sit there and wait for you to say something. You wait for him to say something. When no one says anything and the trader starts moving away, all of a sudden "YOUMOVEYOUDAI!" and you're shields are gone. THEN, it's engaijin time. I have had many occassions when I disrupt the trade lane and before I can make a demand the trader opens fire. Generally I just roleplay it from there, sometimes all be it keeping it short as some of those transports pack a punch. It is disappointing but from the traders point of view I guess they know whats coming and choose to fight before the demand. Limits the opportunity for RP which is disappointing as one of my pirates aint interested in money just certain items of caego and he seems to be the one who gets shot at the most! So inconsiderate them traders be:nono: |
