So I've been having this idea for some time, but it might be open to abuse.
Basically, we have /movechar, is it possible to make some kind of /rentchar, which would operate something like...
/set rentcharcode (enter rentcode here) (enter time here in hours)
/rentchar (enter char name) (enter char code)
Then that person would gain access to the character for however many hours the person specified.
This could act as a way to make money, or even instead of screenshotting all the ships if you plan to sell it, let them borrow your ship for awhile to see how it is before you sell it.

Would probably bee too much for server to handle or something, when people start renting out their LABCs that start to appear in Gamma.

It does, of course introduce a bit more lolwuttery,
But in the end, don't the positives outweigh the negatives? (in my opinion, I don't have as bad of an impression of lolwutters that most here do)

Factions have a way to do this already. They use a "shared" account.
ie; Gateway have a Bret Liner on a shared account to use for moving refugees and the BAF have one ( or more ) to use for cruisers and above. Both these factions are very strict about the usage of these accounts so that no problems occur. Seems to work just fine.

I like it, people have just got to make sure that they take anything valuable from the ship first just in case people take stuff. Oh, I just had an idea! Cannon, can you lock the stuff on the ship so that it can't be removed like credits and stuff and also can you implement something that will stop the ship being sold?

With proper regulation it could be done. Establishing rules that force people to rent profit making ships only (not war ships) and making it clear that such vessel must be named properly, like Rent'a'Ship or RaS| at the beginning of the name.

The problem with shared accounts, is that people can use the /movechar code to automatically claim the character.
Other things that would obviously be put into this:
Can't change weapons, equipment, etc, or sell them or the ship (any attempt to do so will kick, and/or return the ship to the original account
If you die, you don't lose anything, but the char gets moved back to the original account.
