A new Idea - Blaze - 11-09-2009 Today while I was getting bored an Idea came to me. We all know that our RP chars have some name you write before every Line you type in the chat Some use long ones like Cpt.Mathers Now that is not an easy thing to type everytime you want to say something So what about a command like /default Cpt.Mathers: So now everytime you open the chat window "Cpt.Mathers:" will be written there so now you can direcltly type the message and you can remove the Cpt.Mathers: by backspacing. What do you say? A new Idea - Bobthemanofsteel - 11-09-2009 Now that, would be freaking awesome. There's nothing worse than an impatient pirate giving up and shooting you because you misspelt your characters name and went back to retype it. Or when you put 'L' instead of ':' But yeah, great idea, I think this would benefit Roleplay greatly! A new Idea - Blaze - 11-09-2009 I know how it feels and according to me It wont put much of stress on the Server as It just has to store some text I know How difficult it is to type when evrything from SNACs to mortars come flying at you A new Idea - Sprolf - 11-09-2009 If you're writing only one name, there's no point in writing it. If you're always going to be using "Captain Mathers" you don't have to write it. The only reason you write crews' names is when you roleplay a group of people (well, let's use my crew as an example)... like the Doctor, Mara Latham, Miles Monroe, Will Nealis, Richter, Scott Lamarck, and Namura. When you have a bunch of people like that, you need to write their names in front of messages. If you're just playing one person like Captain Mathers, you don't have to write that, because it's pointless to stick their name in the front of the messages, as the ship should probably be named after that person anyway if they're the only person who ever talks. There's no need for differentiating who's speaking if only one person ever does it. A new Idea - Bobthemanofsteel - 11-09-2009 Sprolf, I'f we use my own ship for example, while a good 80% of the time I'm typing 'Robert:', I do sometimes use some other crew. I'll agree with people who your RP with enough, it becomes uneeded, for they often know your captain's/pilot's name, but when you're talking in system chat, I beleive it helps everyone to know that you're talking in RP, and not just being lolwutty. A new Idea - Cris - 11-09-2009 Great idea, a really great idea, this is something we could use so I think this could be developed A new Idea - Blaze - 11-09-2009 Yes that is what I mean Because we can remove it when we want Maybe something like /default off A new Idea - Darkavatar - 11-09-2009 ' Wrote:There's no need for differentiating who's speaking if only one person ever does it. Not exactly. My one ship is .:j:.Mustang.Sally; that's the ship's name and not the character. If I don't "Claude.Quinne:" or "Claude:" before hand people start calling me Sally. The would be a great help to some of us that are slow typers, like myself. A new Idea - Mounteblanc - 11-09-2009 ' Wrote:There's no need for differentiating who's speaking if only one person ever does it. The captain is usually the person who speaks most often, not the only speaker. If we have additional crew members that will speak every once in a while, then we can backspace and type their names instead. A new Idea - JeffreyT - 11-09-2009 I always found it annoying when people do multiple person rp in system chat. Local chat, ok. Group chat, even better. System chat? In terms of that command, yeah, it would be neat. |
