Buy new stuff. - Dab - 11-06-2005 I think we should add a feature to the role-playing experiance. Since we have people making new systems for Discovery, maybe we can have a system where we pay like the admin or something and then the system editors go in and add what they bought. Example: AW buys 4 weapon platforms for lets say 100 million a peice (the really strong weapon platfroms) and then tell the modders where in what systems they want them. This could be used to help in defense of systems against enemy attacks. We could also have people able to buy stationary battleships (that don't sell anything) to put in systems. We could also buy new stations, and yes new shipyards would be nice. Like for every shipyard you have in your systems you get like 5% off any ships that are made for you. These affects wouldn't be immediate becuase they would be installed into the next new version, but we could just make new versions more often with less stuff in them while still getting the same amount of "bug fixes, addens, new stuff etc..." but also with your newly bought stations and platforms. The opportunity of customize the faction system.... But, adding stations to the systems... Can it be done without performing a player wipe? Buy new stuff. - Dab - 11-06-2005 Thats the point, its so we cant get fleets of gunboat/cruisers protectin our jump holes. of course AW and TG would be at a slight disadcantage as we have no shipyards (ohh yea Omicron Gamma has one) and don't have gunboats/cruisers/battleships. So i think ill just stock up on wepaon platforms. And yes stations don't require player wipes, only systems. If its okay with you Angel, you are better at making new systems, if this poll comes out "yes" you could do the systems while i do addins. You have the final say becuase it is your mod. People just pay you a certain amount of money and then they tell me where in what systems to put their "new items." Buy new stuff. - Quantum - 11-06-2005 I'm kind of new to this idea but when a weapon platform is baught and placed in a sys its permenant right? I mean if I were to jump into enemy territory and destroy some wepon platforms would they be destoryed or disabled? I'm assuming since they need to be added in they would only be disabled. If that is the case then I think if Igiss allows it then there should be a cap on how many weapon platforms and stations can be placed in a system and belong to a faction. there is a lot of room for discussion on this topic such as house and rim faction differences when it comes to what they can and can't place and where. I do like the concept and think if done properly this could add a lot of gameplay value to Dicovery. Buy new stuff. - Dab - 11-06-2005 Yes weapon platforms will just be disabled not destroyed. An yes we do need to discuss differences. Cap limits, i dont think we need one. The cost of platforms and ships will be too much to have tons of stuff. What i think the prices should be: Battleship: 600 million dollars Battleship with ships sold at it.: 675 million dolars Cruiser: 400 million dollars Gunboat: 200 million dollars Weapon Platform: 100 million dollars Shipyard: 200 million Fighter patrols. These prices should keep factions from being able to get too much stuff. House factions should be restricted to their own cap-ships. Like Liberty gets the dreadnaught, Bretonia gets the Bretonian Battleship etc. I think the Osiris should be available to the non-house factions so they too have a battleship, and make it only 450 million dollars since we cant have any gunboats/cruisers. Shipyards reduce cost of making cap-ships by 5% for each shipyard. Fighter patrols can be used to protect trade lanes from NPC pirates and players. Buy new stuff. - Titus - 11-06-2005 And the new patrols/bases to whom will they be assigned? Which faction? Outcasts in tau 23? Corssairs in omicron gamma? If this would be so, then if (example) SDF would be at war with AW, then they could easily pass thorugh the weapon platforms/patrols if they had neutral rep at least with outcasts.
