Okay I know there had been a similar thread recently on ripping off cannon character names and personalities. But I'm suggesting to rip off only the origins of a character and not everything else.
I'm asking because I haven't seen any crossover stories yet, I could be wrong though. At the moment I'm thinking of writing a story which involves parallel universe/crossovers. For example:
"Captain's log stardate 65521: ...We had been travelling for 3 days in this uncharted nebula now, our sensors are completely useless and is only registering a faint signature of a wormhole. Astrometrics confirm that wormhole is unexplored and therefore its exit is unknown. I have decided to head towards it for a scan."
...A console ruptured and took out a tactical personnel. The ship is in chaos as it is being pulled into the astronomical phenomenon.
Captain Cabulb yells, "Helm, give me full power to reverse thrusters, get us out of here!"
"My controls are not functioning captain, the gravitational field of the wormhole is too strong!" replied lt. Ramirez.
* okay I just realised I started writing my story, I'll be brief now.*
The ship entered the wormhole and comes out on the other end, drifting helplessly in unknown space. The captain orders a long range scan and finds an M-Class planet nearby. They limp towards the planet and scans for life. They find that the planet is populated not only by human life, but also large fields of yellow plantations...
Sorry for the wall of text here, think of this as a possible teaser for my upcoming RP story (hopefully). I would like some opinions.
For those who doesn't have a clue of what I just wrote, this is a crossover of Star Trek universe into FL Disco verse. A Starfleet vessel enters a wormhole and found themselves in Alpha (of course they don't know it yet).
As I said, this is only a possible outcome of my story. So no moaning "OMG Outcast".

I think that sounds O.K. Not sure how you could fit a Starfleet ship into cannon FL RP.
Unless you go all crazy parallel universe on us.

Nah, I just hate inter dimensional characters.
If you do crossover RPing, it should be really, really, really good, both Forum-wise and game-wise. Otherwise you may look like an idiot in-game to someone who's not read your Forum RP.

I try my best at in-game RP. Now I'm thinking of starting forum RP as well. Okay I admit it I have no inspirations to come up with my own original character in every way. The best I can do is to do a crossover from Trek or some other show and adapt my names and personalities.
But look at the Joker guy, he's a blatant massive rip off in every way and you all love him.
Back to topic, moar suggestions plox.

The Joker is the character's persona in space. Not the Joker that fights Batman. They are the same person, but Joker's Joker did not come from Sol. He did not come from a different dimension, he came from this one.
Yes, import characters do work, in my opinion. As long as they are only the persona and name, not the exact character itself.
So, if you really did want a Trekkie character, you can use every one of their traits, as long as you base them entirely in Sirius.

Thing is, if you're going to bring in someone from another SciFi universe into Disco, it'd be best pick something a bit more obscure and generic then Star Trek.
Malcom Renolds, Gordon Freeman, and Suzumiya Haruhi are sufficiently obscure
Spock, Luke Skywalker, and Harry Potter are not.
