Ship Question - me_b_kevin - 06-11-2007

ok i've been playing a bit now and i'm currently a trader.

i'm gotten about $35 million so far and was looking for a ship change.

What's a good type of ship and out of that type which would be a good one.

also, how much will it cost be to outfit the ship?

i'm leaning toward a fighter of some sort...but i'm not settled on it.

i'd kinda like to get into some pvp also.

thanks for the info guys

Well wot is your ID statues now or going to be as the should influence you on you ship that you are going to buy.

And for PvP you will need to learn how to engine kill (default letter Z)

Ship Question - me_b_kevin - 06-11-2007

Right now my ID is Cryer pharm., i'm solo'n right now so no actual faction which means i can get whatever ID.

yeah i'll need to learn all about engine kill i guess. what is it? killing your engines before a cruise disrupter hits you? please explain

Ship Question - Eppy - 06-11-2007

Engine Kill is Z. It cuts your engines and lets you fly on inertia alone, so that instead of turning like a fighter in atmosphere, your ship continues in a straight line as your craft turns. Once you've oriented yourself properly, tap thrusters for about half a second, and that will change your direction. It makes you a slightly easier target, but, assuming you learn hown to turn with thrusters, It increases the overall effectiveness in a dogfight, and certainly jacks up the hit/miss ratio. Pulling tighter corners becomes so much easier, and you can literally right-angle-turn, like some nutjob UFO. Be careful, though, it makes missiles even harder to use. I think Verginex has a better explanation posted in his Giude to Discoveery.

My advice-don't cash in your trader. Get your char. into a Large Train (in Newcastle) and use that to fund other Chars.

do you have to have someone to help transfer funds? and who can you trust in this world of pirates?

i guess if i joined a faction i could trust a fellow member.

if i was to get the needed funds i could just keep enough to re-purchase my trader

Ship Question - Eppy - 06-11-2007

YOu don't need someone, though it is reccommended... You just have to buy credit cards, dump em in space, and VERY QUICKLY head out and pick them up with your new fighter, after which you head to the nearest friendly base and get them cashed, because it would suck to lose that much cash.

Ship Question - me_b_kevin - 06-11-2007

how long will equipment stay in space unattended?

Ship Question - Craines - 06-11-2007

Usually for two minutes less than what you need...

I'd say that the safe time is about, of, five minutes? I dunno - haven't left anything unattended for longer than that. I think the ol' credit transfer ala human is better. Just get a screen shot (the Print Screen button) of the agreement, and if the person swindles you, get the admins in.

Hope that helped, since clarification is next to cleanliness,
Harley

thanx,

so for a totally fitted out ship (i guess for each type) how much will i need?

including the best gun, shields, armor...etc..etc

Ship Question - Qunitinius~Verginix - 06-12-2007

I would suggest putting around 30 - 40 million into your fighter. That will give you the best stuff with some cash elft over for extra things that you need to buy when you see them.
