"Mudd is right, Sir. We'll have to make sure to be on the lookout for an infected Order pilot now."

"Very well. You're all dismissed to your ships now. We'll not be mounting a rescue operation for one such as this."

Max watched as his ship captians left the briefing room.

The door closed, and he hit the communication button. "Jenny? This is Max. You know that back channel frequency we don't use very often? Get me Tovig Kelt."

"Sir, we've intercepted a weak pulse of distress order craft signal from Omicron 92 Sector 5D, Hunters probably intercepted the signal too, your order?"

"hmm, that signal is from a known system filled with Nomads, you know what, call the rescue crew and get a Recon Cruiser ready, if our Recon Cruiser cannot pick up that fighter's signal within 2 days, pull the ship out of there, a fighter is not worth to loss a Cruiser."

/Alerting Captain. . .

The implants in his body stirred and buzzed a soft stimulant into his bloodstream, and his eyes snapped open. Izii couldn't leap out of his bed any faster, donning his uniform and heavy coat, he would make his way to the bridge as the message played for the last time. He looked over the gaseous nebula the pilot was in, and the reading of the object he was nearing.

"Tag the signal, and keep it tracked as long as you can, if we lose it we'll not get a second chance to gain it unless we're damned lucky." He focused on the Nomad hive, he'd seen them before, long ago before he'd even joined the Zoner Guard, memories of a failed recon mission still lingered.

"Signal's locked in captain, we can track it more easily if we can get near Toledo. Will we be assisting the Order in a search and rescue?" The comms officer worked away at his console, not bothering to look back at Captain Izii as he asked.

"Only if they'll allow it, or condone it, otherwise move us to Toledo and get the Lieutenant and his men ready for possible boarding action. We are headed into a hot zone." The ship's lights flickered as it quivered just slightly, the cruise engines priming and charged to maximum as asteroids bounced off the Hammer's shield like a hailstorm of BB's pellets on a raging freight train.

/Tracking signal. . . Increasing stimulant mixture to Captain neurocyte.

The bridge of the LNS Tundra was dimly lit. A 'human' crew ran the ship, as it still required manual input to function. "Captain" Robert Foster, the Voice, sat on the command chair. He contemplated the backdrop of Omicron Delta, all outer appearances indicating a comatose state. The ship was well-hidden, as usual. The human numbers were great, and direct confrontation was risky. Best to remain mysterious and strike fear through random attacks only when the advantage was with them.

On the viewscreen and through the speakers suddenly played a transmission. It brought Foster to his senses, as well as the rest of the crew. Sometimes the ship surprised them -- doing things that they weren't aware of through the mindshare. For all they tried to discover its source, they had failed. Perhaps the ship had a human soul? Unlikely. But whatever it was seemed to work in the Nomad's favor.

Set a course for Omicron 92 was the first of many orders sent out by Foster through the Nomad's mental connection. Such desecration could not go unpunished...
