So, for the first time in at least two months, I get to play Freelancer. I get a clean install, get a fresh mod download, load up Korrd's Account Manager, and WHAT do I find???????????////questionmark

The stupid game SKIPS.

Yes, like a CD dragged across a bed of sandpaper, my game is making little popping noises come out of the speakers and skips graphically, like it skips thirty frames ahead every two seconds. (And that's without lag)

HOW DO I MAKE IT GO AWAY???????///questionmark

I don't want this to turn into a Virus. Please, save me!

FPS lag? Or worse?

First, it sounds like something on your PC is sucking up resources... Most likely CPU.

Hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Go to process and check what is sucking up all your CPU. (If its all on System Idle Process, thats good)

The System Idle Process count neverdrops below 85. All the rest is on System and iTunes. Might it be iTunes?

AAAAAAAAGH! - DBoy1612 - 06-21-2007

Yes. Shut it down and try again.

AAAAAAAAGH! - Eppy - 06-21-2007

Righto. Attempting...

AAAAAAAAGH! - Eppy - 06-21-2007

No luck. It's still being a foul snot and doing the frame skip. It made me hit a stinkin' dreadnaught.

Maybe a Defrag and Disk cleanup will help. But Im not an expert on these rare phenomena....

AAAAAAAAGH! - Eppy - 06-21-2007

I'll set up a defrag, but this computer never does anything...this is the first time it's been online for more than an hour...

AAAAAAAAGH! - McNeo - 06-21-2007

Ok, another thing for you to try:

Howabout turning off Windows Firewall if its on (permissions dont work how they should...)
If you have Norton or McAfee, turn it off completely, but if its Avast then leave it on.
If that computer never does anything, maybe it is a virus on there. Do a scan
Remember, before going on the internet to turn on all your Antivirus and Firewalls (not Windows one, that one is useless)

Already done. Defragging...
