Is there only one type of nomad, as in race or creed? - Fletcher - 12-19-2009

My knowledge of the Nomad species lore is rather lacking compared to our resident Nomad Treewyrm. I ask is there any diversities within the Nomad species? Or all they all just genetically/artificially created creatures who all abhor to a blueprint of sorts?

Are there other Nomads that split off from the main Dom'Kavosh 'Keepers' or 'Guardians' if you will. I'm not pointing at the faction here. Their faction name fits nicely for the adjective at hand.

Its possible, in theory.. I mean its all RP... one can conceivably do whatever they like. Even if your idea is to create nomads who adapted to be pink and sparkly:P

I think the answer to that is actually a theoretical yes.

Our domestic canon is that Sol was popped. This was done by a bunch of nommies a couple centuries back. Those nommies were obviously not the ones that trent ran into/we're dealing with now.

Due to them flitting about nuking stars whilst going all LOLOLOL.

The local breed of nommie is recently awoken, somewhat weak (by comparison to our planet popping friends) and is suffers a great sensitivity to deus ex machina.

The reason that introduction wasn't included in the original game is because it didn't fit with the storyline as it turned out. It was a cool idea back in concept, but things changed along the way... which is why it doesn't make sense right now. It doesn't fit with the storyline - why don't you think Digital Anvil included it?

And we come up with all sorts of insane conclusions to justify it.
Bothersome.

Anyways, in attempt to justify using material that doesn't fit:

Hypergates could account for them being the same race, etc.
Having access to Hypergates would literally remold the universe into an entirely new shape for the species that had them...

You think they're not the same species because they blow planets up?
Sirius belongs to the Nomads, humans are squatters. What worth is Sirius if you blow up everything in it to get it back? Nothing, obviously, which is why this weapon hasn't been used in its full potential. ... I think that the weapon used against Freeport 7 was a downsized version, or at least a version not used at full power.

The "Sirian" Nomads (which would imply there's others, which I frankly don't believe) might very well have access to this weapon... they just haven't used it because that would be like using a white phosphorous grenade as a fleabomb.

EDIT: OOH! OOH!
Maybe it's Future Nomads coming back into the past to try to kill all the humans before they leave for Sirius because the Future Humans are too difficult for the Nomads to fight!
But the Future Nomads were just a little too late and the humans were never prevented from reaching Sirius and the timeline continued as normal.

That actually is the best solution I've heard thus far.

The Nomad Lore describes several "Castes". The Advisors, The Wanderers, The Dreamers, The Keepers, The Hybrids, The Infiltrators and The Learners.

Due to the way nomads "evolve" and shapeshift, it's not unreasonable for other types of nomads to exist. The LNS-Tundra comes to mind.
