Discovery needs improvements! - Varok - 12-21-2009 Hello! I decided to make a list with what should be improved in discovery.There some things that are annoying in this mod.So here it is... 1.When pirating...the tradelane turrets are useless.They only start the annoying combat music and ...simply are just too annoying (Those things should be removed or updated with some significant damage) 2.The same thing is happening with the Jumpgates. 3.Again when you are pirating and you "Camp" somewhere...there are coming thousands of NPCs that are again just annoying. 4.Today when I was returning to Orkney system,I was ambushed by 8 NPCs with Sabre VHFs.It is not fair! I had no change.(...even on a atlas transport...) 5.When you exit from a tradelane...your engines should be stoped automatic because you could hit a planet or you could fly for many Km away.(Im talking about when you are AFK...an example is : Shinagawa Station->Planet New Tokyo. If you dont stop your engines you are transformed in barbeque.) This is all that bothers me in discovery.Hope those things are gonna be fixed in the near future:rolleyes: **Varok out!** Discovery needs improvements! - Trim - 12-21-2009 1. Ok, firstly i agree, but the combat music rocks! 2. Jumpgates can actually do a reasonable amout of damage already. 3. These are NPCs were talking about here, if you have a high end ship they most probably won't be able to damage you, also if they do, sell the NPC pilots. Also if you get a pirate transport, (popular way of pirating) You can destroy NPC convoys and sell the loot. 4. Ok, yeah some groups of NPCs are kind of big. Thats also agreed with. 5. NO! If you're in one of those lanes then just don't go AFK, simple as... When you aren't in one of them, go... or fly in a convoy in formation so you don't have to be there. So 1 and 4 are good suggestions 1.....i dunno.... and 3 and 5 can be worked around. Not all pirates use bombers or gunboats. Some of us use Heavy Fighters/Light Fighters, and the turrets hurt those ships already. Sure, they need to be able to do some more damage, but nothing too extreme like the stations. They're trade lanes, not fortresses. 2. Same as the trade lanes. They're jump gates, not fortresses. 3. If you only disrupt the trade lane when you see players coming then you don't have that problem. 4. Sabre bombers? You must mean Falcatas. And that area of space is supposed to be dangerous, so the NPCs there should be kept as they are now. 5. No, because you shouldn't be AFK when going through trade lanes anyway. I've crashed into New Tokyo at least three times because I was AFK and I accept it. It was my fault for being AFK. True, they shold be made more dangerous but not everywhere. The far away you go from liberty the more dangerous they should be. This update could also solve the "nobody leaves liberty" issue. Feeling a better protection traders would start to stay a bit more out of liberty; pirates would follow them. 2. Yap, the same as 1. In this case only the "strategic" JH should be improved. They are the ones that have a (border) stations (or battleships) guarding them: the stations should be able to deliver real damage in the nearby of the JG. 3. Actually what I would do is give tradelanes -more- powerful guns as well as to jump gates. There are -supposed- to be strong NPCs in wherever you flew thru...oh wait, you said Orkney. Yes, Orkney is pretty much a hot zone. There are outcasts, CRs, IMG, BAF, KNF (rarely), Gaians, Gauls etc etc... 5 - A simple solution - don't be AFK. When you're AFK you annoy every single person who'd like to RP with you. If I see someone AFK, I either kill him or shoot his guns off. Plus, what would happen if players went AFK in a NY tradelane? A ball of ship would be made. Then, I'd play a dodge-ball with my Nova torpedoes. Do you think Sirius is some kind of friendly space where everything is easy as for pirates as for traders? I agree with all your comments:)with only one exception: you comparison with "masternerdguy #2" would have been annoying for everybody. I'm sad you had a bad wake up; but it's Your problem. It's not an excuse for being rude (or un-polite) with others:nono:. And finally... if you think a certain post/thead/topic is "boring" or "already seen" or "of no interest" you should just abstain from replying. Sure, it's not fair. Life isn't either. You can't expect it to be. In the previous point you complained about cannon-fodder NPCs, here you complain about dangerous NPCs... Sometimes you just meet a superior force and pay the price. Your suggestions were noted and will be forgotten in about 2 minutes. Some of the things may be fixed in the future, some probably never will.
