The Hammen Hole - Weekly Event (Saturdays at 8 PM GMT [subject to change]) - Zig - 12-21-2009 Ronneburg Base, Omega-5 Gottfried Halse, redoubtable leader of the Red Barons, stands (with his arms crossed) before an enormous bay window, inserted with the careful skill and pinpoint precision of former miners, workmen all too acutely aware that an improperly-installed fixture down a large tunnel, which, after all, is effectively what an asteroid base happens to be, can mean fatality at a moment's notice. This bay window, composed of a material translucent enough to permit a near-completely unobstructed view of the desolate spectacle beyond, yet hardened and tough enough to repel sundry particle collisions, permits Gottfried to gaze out at the shattered, besotted, miserable warzone that is the Omega-5 system. Turgid clouds of beige space dust, chippings off of some arbitrary asteroid, gently drift through the vacuum, neither accelerating nor decelerating, altering their vectors not in the slightest. The nearby fringe of the vast yet fragmentary system-wide minefield glints grayly in the light of the system's sluggish superheated globe of fusing hydrogen. Gottfried is forcibly reminded of the particular color of a desiccated whale's corpse and frowns for a moment. A random Corsair Centurion manifests from behind a particularly dense asteroid, momentarily disturbs the hideous peace before a blast from Ronneburg's nearest well-maintained and well-manned laser turret vaporizes its shields, panicks, frenziedly wheels about, takes flight into the gloom. A Red Hessian fast-response squadron starts after it, having merely awaited the squadron leader's hastily-barked order. One can almost taste the Corsair's acrid fright. A mine detonates in the distance. Another mine detonates in the distance. Gottfried nods. He beckons to a flunky. The flunky, having previously been hovering nervously about in the distance, approaches when summoned. Do ready my Odin, eh, Junge. He winks mirthlessly. Cadiz delendam est. The infamous five double-yoos: Who: The Red Barons, under the leadership of Gottfried Halse, opposing the Benitez Corsairs, under the leadership of Don Carlos Benitez. What: Omega-5. The whole shebang. Slow expansion toward the primary enemy installation (Cadiz Base for the Red Barons, Ronneburg Base for the Benitez Corsairs) is the name of the game. When: Weekly, Saturdays at 8 PM GMT - this is a preliminary date and as of yet subject to change. Where: Omega-5's Hammen Hole, notorious as the location of some of the fiercest battles between the Red Hessians and the Corsairs ever held (and that's sayin' somethin'!) Why: The Red Barons believe the time has come to place a finite end to the disgustingly indecisive struggle in Omega-5. Said finite end can only originate in the Hammen Hole, the system's central showplace for combat between the Red Hessians and the Corsairs. The Benitez Corsairs, as the most numerous and powerful of the Corsairs' remaining bands and organizations (and maintaining a vested interest in the region), have resolved not to cede the strategically vital and principally resource-laden system without a fight, and are championing the cause among the Corsairs of Omega-5 of driving the Red Barons back. Sign up in this thread each week if you're eligible to join in and have decided to grace the Hammen Hole with your presence. Omega-5 will be restored to its roleplay glory as one of Sirius' goriest battlefields, that p'tic'lar corner o' town is somewhat too quiet these days. Long live conflict and so on and so forth. *Jon claps his hands.* The Hammen Hole - Weekly Event (Saturdays at 8 PM GMT [subject to change]) - Carlos_Benitez - 12-21-2009 ---------------------------Incoming Transmission---------------------------- Comm ID: Commandante Don Carlos Benitez Source: Myrtos Villa (Benitez HQ), Planet Crete To: All Benitez pilots Hermanos, Today we intercepted a transmission from a sub-sect of the Red Hessians. It seems they're planning an offensive in Omega-5. Amongst the transmission was the precise date and time of this attack on Cadiz. Interestingly, they seem to particularly fear our familia, their inaccurate but flattering intel describing our familia as the "most numerous and powerful of the Corsair's remaining bands and organizations". Whilst I have no doubt that the forces stationed on Cadiz are more than capable of holding off this pathetic pack of Rhineland dogs, I think it might be appropriate that we dispatch a sizeable force of Benitez ships to the station in preparation for the attack, and prove to these Hessians that their fear is justified. --------------------------------------Transmission Ends----------------------------------- The Hammen Hole - Weekly Event (Saturdays at 8 PM GMT [subject to change]) - Zig - 12-22-2009 The first event in this series of events will presumably be held this Saturday.
